I go to a lot of effort to put a display up each year. Not only do I like to put it up.... I Iove the fact that people stop and go out of their way to see the house and lawn all done up.
Why then, would someone go out of their way to steal a 7 foot inflatable santa that was deflated . at 3am in the morning? not just stealing it.....but making it unusable in the process...leaving bare wires after they just ripped it from where it lay.
It is Christmas and I do this for everyone to get enjoyment out of. I I was a scrooge... I'd do it in my own backyard so only family can see.
Why would, or who would do this?

You can't assume God was punishing you. According to Jesus in the bible, having a tower fall on you doesn't necessarily mean you *particularly* deserved it. (Luke 13:4)

Stuff happens?
It's an odd sentiment to put alongside other bible verses, but there it is.

But yes, there are people who would do this...
(I'd bet on a group: a bunch of teenagers will do things they never would as individuals, lest they lose face with each other: dare and bravado... A dangerous combination.)

God will mark your house with a symbol that tells all the neighborhood stray kittehs that your place is the cool place to hang out.

Many fundie Christians are offended with Santa Claus...
He is magic, he gives gifts, he comes on Jesus's birthday.
and he is a complete lie. So what do young kids imply about Jesus when they learn he is magic, gives gifts...
Or just kids who are angry when they find out about the big lie.

Dude, it's kids. Teens or pre-teens. Kids do stupid things - it's their nature. Either blow it off or sit outside with a shotgun all night.

Now that you mention it...God is punishing you for your sin of pride.
