As he was the driver of the vehicle when he hit you, he is legally obliged to funish the police with all his driving documents. They can request this after the accident even if they were not at the scene. Contact them and let them know what happened and he is now point blank refusing to co=operate with you. If no-one is injured and no damage is caused to any other property ie fences etc both drivers do not need the police at the scene and only need to swap details. As he has failed in his obligation this is an offence and he can be prosecuted for this.
I also suggest you contact your insurance and let them know the details he did give you. Also as he hit you from behind, this is completely his fault and constitutes careless driving so if you or your passengers suffer any neck or back injuries over the next few days call with your GP and next stop the solicitors office...
Oh by the way...I expect 10% on anything you get!

You have the car reg number the mans name and address. Just tell your insurance company they will know immediately if he is insured or not and who with. I had a similar accident a couple of years ago with what appeared to be slight damage. Unfortunately a cross panel (i think that is what it was called) had been damaged and the repair was over £1000 much to the surprise of me and the other party. In not giving you insurance details I think he is committing an offence under the Road Traffic Acts The fact hat he was hit by another car for which of course he has no details is an irrelevance. The fqcts speak for themselves he was driving too close to you. I hope you are fully comp or have legal assistance from the RAC AA
or someone

What a git!!! Just tell your insurance company that he's refusing to give you his details. have you got his name and address and his car reg number ? If so pass these on to your insurers and they can trace him from there. I had an accident about 4 years where the guy went into the back of me and he wanted to sort it privately but I refused.
Put it down to experience and if you do have another accident take the other drivers details to be on the safe side.

Have you got any of his paint on your car? If so, that's all the evidence you need, call the police and your insurers. Sometimes, they will make a claim against him without his permission. I know this because I had a prang in Ikea's car park, the other driver was at fault but because I did not inform my insurance company, they paid out and my premium went up!
Finally, if you have a witness, it's a closed case. Good luck!

You should always exchange names and addresses, car registration and insurance details if involved in an accident, then confirm to your insurance company that the other driver admitted liability (agreed to pay privately) and then if the other driver changes their mind, your insurance company can pursue them or their insurance for payment. If you pass what details you have to your insurance company, they will advise you.

Go to your insurance company, give the car details, tell them that the driver refused to give his details.
This is ILLEGAL. The police would also be interested.

Did you get his car registraton?
If so go to the police and explain the situation to them,
Explain that he refused to give you his details and he failed to report the accident.
This happened to me a few years back. Our insurance company managed to get his details in the end.

call the police department and your insurance company. In the future, never let some creep say he'll settle it privately. You never know if something like this will happen. People will take advantage of nicer people such as yourself.

If he was legally on the road with the proper documents let your insurance fight it out for you. If he is without the legal documents then it becomes a criminal offence and the police will take it up.
