If it's the type that doesn't allow the lights on when one bulb is jacked, that's a pain.
If it's not, then the problem is in the cord/connector itself. The smart thing would be to get another one from the same store.

There may be just one burnt out bulb which makes the whole thing not work. You will just have to check each one by replacing it and turning the lights on and seeing if it works. You have to do it with every single light to find the one actually burnt out though.

One broken bulb is enough to make the whole string go limp. You shouldn't buy prelit tress, where is all the romance left of decorating your own tree? What hels is getting strings with LEDs, they don't break as easily and should last a lifetime.

Light strings are so inexpensive now that it doesn't pay to waste alot of time with them. If you just bought it, take it back, its defective, if not throw it out & buy a new set, and after you buy them, go to the bar and have a couple of glasses of wine, then decorating the rest of the tree will go quicker.

I have bought new blinking lights, and some of my friends have. Are they made in China? It seems they are half made. Half of mine blink and light.
