she has not came out to eat or drink in 48 hours and i am worried about her. One of the puppies appears to be dead and she is still loving it and pulling it towards her. Can I force her out or will that stress her and the pups out?

Just dig them out from under there. Put them all in a warm place with a nice box to stay warm in. Confine them to one room where Mom can't drag them back outside.
It will be better for mom and puppies to be safe and warm rather than under the shed. And if one died then you will have to dispose of it. Feed Mom and leave plenty of water out for her to drink.

I've had dogs most of my life and most of them female. All animals will nest ( find a place to deliver thier litter). Once they do, there is nothing you can do. We tried several times to move the pups to where we thought they and mom would be more comfortable, she would put them right back to where she wanted. Her sole purpose right now is to protect and take care of her babies. Bring the food and water to her. Leave it in place accessibe to her and leave. right now she sees you as a threat to her babies and won't leave. I am however concerned about the dead pup. Usually is a pup is dead she will push it aside to protect the other pups. Is it possible the puppy isn't dead and she is trying to nurse it back to health. Don't worry too much. Momma is doing what is best for her and her babies

definitely get her out of there, with the pup's...put her in a quiet place where she can be alone with them, BUT you must make sure that the after birth has been delivered. She could die if its still in her.

call the vet, and get her to him/her immediately!!

if the puppy is dead, you need to take care of that too.

sorry, I hope everything work out for you and the dog.

Just try and make sure she knows that your trying to help her, not hurt her or the babies. (its not an easy task!!)

You need to get mama dog and the pups out of there. Call the fire department, if necessary. Leaving her there with no food, water, and a dead pup is more stress.

Well, only REALLY irresponsible people allow their PETS to give birth outside. God....for the sake of the dog and any future puppies, SPAY IT!! Clearly, you should not be having an unspayed dog if this is the best you could do for her.

GET HER AND THE PUPPIES OUT OF THERE AND INTO THE HOUSE!!!!!

Sounds like she is stressed already, so just DO IT!

she should have had a whelping box prepared for her in the house weeks before whelping.

she MUST be moved inside. WHERE SHE AND THE PUPS BELONG

SPAY this animal when this ordeal is over..... how awful for all concerned

Well call your local vet/vetanarian on it they will show immediate care for your puppies and the mother. But dont panic because 99.9% of the time they DO do this ive had 2 mothers to do this.

You should call the Vet. That'd be the best thing to do.
