I'm finding she's having difficulty getting things done, such as chores around the house (laundry, cleaning) as well as grocery shopping and other errands. I live nearly 1,000 miles away. Any idea what I can do to help her out?

There are homemaker and personal care provider services, they are not too expensive but if your mother is on a limited income they can help with the cost. They will send someone in to do those things. Contact her local Red Cross, they provide this service.

Check out home health agencies in her area. Most have people who clean and run errands for their clients. This would help her a lot and ease your mind. See if any grocery stores deliver. One in our town does and that helps elderly people a lot.

Is you mom a member of a church or any groups. If so check with the pastor or the person who runs the groups. They may know someone who will help her out.

She's your mother. I'm sure you love her and only want the best for her. Maybe one of your brothers or sisters can help her? Or she can stay with you. If you don't want that then maybe hire one of those at-home nurses.
