It is passed directly from one to another and in the air with coughing or spray. Hand washing is absolutely manditory to hold down the transfer. If you have a child that goes into a crowded school or child care situation, this is probably where it came from.
Our family had the same thing happen. My Granddaughter on Wed, her Mom on Thurs., Papa on Fri, and I was next.
Flu shots have been helpful for me to avoid the flu. But we are due this year.
Start to finish they last a week to ten days. From the first achy feeling to back to feeling well.
Saltines, tea, broth, very light diet, take a pain killer to make you body feel as well as possible. Just plan to be pretty much bed ridden for most of the time. It is a big challenge when you are sick as are the other family members.
God Bless and get well soon.

I am afraid to say that you all did probably catch it from each other. It is also possible, (but somewhat unlikely) that something that all of you ate is now effecting you in different ways. Stomach Flu is spread mostly through direct contact, but it is also sometimes spread by coughing or sneezing. If you kiss someone, shake hands with someone, share foods, drinks, or eating utensils, with someone who has the Stomach Flu, you are very likely to get it. If your son, husband, or yourself were to get better, if you all have the same type of Virus, then it's not likely that you'll get it again from each other. However, you can't be sure that you all have the same Virus, so I'd recommend visiting a doctor or calling a nurse from a Clinic. It is VERY important to rest your stomach intestines. Start the healing process by ONLY DRINKING clear liquids. NO SOLID FOODS!!! It's very likely that you will throw up if you eat solid food. Juices are a good choice, some sodas are alright, like ginger ale, sprite, and sunkist, wouldn't recommend pepsi though, also, don't drink anything very thick like a Daiquiri, I did that (there was no alcohol in it) and, that was a disaster, and definitely NO ALCOHOL!!! Keeping your liquids cold may help you to ease your stomach. If you've been vomiting a lot, only drink small sips of liquid at a times, too much, even an ounce or two, can upset your stomach. A little while later, you can start eating soft and bland foods, they'll be easier to digest. Crackers, toast, plain noodles, and apple sauce can be a good choice. Chicken soup can be ok too, but you'll probably be sick of liquids by then. Do not take aspirin, ibuprofen, or other NSAIDS without checking with your doctor or health care provider first. Wash your hands frequently to help prevent the spread and receiving of harmful germs. The Stomach Flu will usually only last about 1 to 3 days. It may take a week or 2 before your normal habits return.
Good Luck. Get better soon!!!

stomach viruses, typically 24 to 48 hours. In same households it's real easy to spread, you probably shared the virus before the first symtom appeared. That's why washing hands and surfaces (especially during the winter when we lock up windows and doors) becomes important. Things we never consider is every surface can be touched by someone. Our best defense is to wash hands and keep them away from face nose and mouth. Yes there is always a slight chance but unlikely if you've all gone through it together, because you'll probably have a resistance to it for the immediate time period. Good luck and feel better

1) Maybe you had a low dose of it early that built up immunity 2) Maybe you're resistant to that particular brand anyway 3) Maybe they did eat something you didn't without your knowing about (perhaps you were all served the same stuff but you chose not to eat some item they ate) 4) Maybe you'll get it later this week Hard to say. My son had a nasty bug and he normally never gets sick. Three days later, I had it.
