If you haven't seen a movie, you can hardly tell what it is about now can you?
I'm going to go see it, and I'm going to buy my boyfriend surprise tickets to go see it because it was his favorite book as a kid

I, myself, am I Christian, and not just in name only. Any of my friends know that I am a stickler when it comes to Sound Biblical Doctrine. I saw the movie because I wanted to know what all the fuss was about.
I personally did not feel attacked as a Christian. Now, that may be different if I read the books. I dunno. But like someone said earlier, it's gonna take a lot more than a movie or book written by an Atheist to shake my Faith.
On the other hand, I can definitely see how Catholics would take offense to this movie because it Openly attacks the individual beliefs of the Catholic Church. There are some truths in the Catholic Church that I agree with, but the Roman Catholic Church is not my representative nor does it speak for me.
Now, what you are doing with your kids was, I think, the Root Issue in the movie; namely the Right to Choose for Oneself. It is apparent to me that you are trying to "raise up your children in The Way they should go", and at the same time allowing them to make decisions on their own. I applaud you for that. You are allowing them to make Informed Decisions on their own, but also enforcing rules and discipline because you love them and want to protect them. Just as God does with us. He chastens us because He Loves us, but allows us Free Will at the same time. Likeswise, if you didn't agree with the movie you'd tell them why, but still allow them to make their own decisions. Lets face, we cannot control everything our children do outside of the house; however, parents do have the say so as to what comes in and what does not come in to the home.
Plus, the author of these Books is fighting a losing battle any way. Just because he doesn't believe in God doesn't mean God doesn't exist, and the ironic part is that God still believes in him.
Be Blessed My Sister,
---Bryan

I don't know that I'll see the movie, mainly because I just don't have the time right now, but I do plan to read the book. From what I understand, the protagonist is fighting against a church that totally controls every aspect of peoples' lives. It sounds like an Orwellian/Huxleyest type book. Also, I wouldn't have paid any attention to either nor probably read the book had it not been for all the attention its been given.

I am a Christian, and I am chosing not to watch this movie, one: because my money will go towards a guy who's trying to "kill God". And two: I don't want to get involved in anything that has to do with witchcraft or demons. I know for a fact that demons are real. And I don't want anything at all to do with anything that is the opposite of God.
One thing that I do not get is, the author is definitely atheist, so why, in the third book, is he killing God? If he believes there is no God?
And by the way, Jesus died and rose again, that tells you, basically He can't be killed! ..unlike Buddha or Mohamed.

Check out the Catholic League for Religious and Civil Rights and the statements by Mr.Bill? Donoghue on the movie and the books, which are much more antitheist, anti Christian and anticatholic Christian in particular.
I will not see it or sponsor those groups that do sponsor this movie. The goal is to answer the attacks on theism,Christianity and Catholic Christianity (especially targeted and the teaching Office of the Church as the Magisterium) that the 3 books make. Pullman, the author,is a militant antitheist and has repeated that the destruction of religion is a goal of his and these books were meant to attack the Christ-centered stories the Chronicles of Narnia.
The World Over of EWTN last night had Bill Donoghue on last night and he noted that when Jews,Gays or other groups are depicted badly the movie would not make it to the cinemas but when Christians, especially Catholics, are misrepresented and demonized in the press and media the bigots become angry and even nastier andmore hostile when we answer their attacks. We need to pray and speak out more.

What The HELL, GOSH people these day's give me break, IT"S A FREAKIN MOVIE, I'm sure there have been plenty of anti-God movie and beside's it's not about God as evil, more about what the church can do if it's not controlled, you may think of me as a athiest but I'm not I'm agnostic meaning I DO BELIEVE IN GOD, but not relegion *cough* the church*cough*. And I personally never wanted to see this movie b/c it seemed dumb but now that all this commotion about it being demon believing I AM GOING TO SEE IT, and then walk out and yell I'm agnostc not a demon worshiper. Besides god created death and evil, and good, life, and peace HE CREATED EVERYTHING AM I RIGHT, so death, and Killing is also in his work.
and lady if your kids are so afraid of the fact it's anti God, demonology, blah blah blah then get your face into the real world PEOPLE DIE EVERY DAY, and there ain't no jesus or whatever it is to help them, and your kids and you should be mature enough to know that IT"S JUST A MOVIE.
you probably will ignore me think I'm crazy for not being so god worshipping but what I'm saying is what I feel so please you, and all of your, church give me a break.

Really, that disappoints me.
On October 7, 2007 the Catholic League called for a boycott of the film. League president William A. Donohue said he would not ordinarily object to the film, but that while the religious elements will be diluted from the source material, the film will encourage children to read the novels, which he says "denigrate Christianity" and promote "atheism for kids."

I don't truly believe in the movie, or any of what it is saying. Just seems like it would be a good movie to see, I'm going this morning. Kinda like the Harry Potter stuff that's kinda following witch craft but we all know that it's fiction. And it's entertaining though it is maybe not such a Christian, Muslim, or Jew movie.

I don't give opinions on something I have not seen though I do have one. No, I will not be seeing it. I rarely even watch a TV movie. Even if a movie is not heavily described in public as this one is, or is very well recommended, I find them not worth my eye time. I usually dig out 'Pure Luck' when I need diversion. Otherwise, I stick to documentaries or something my daughter guarantees I will like.

I'll wait till it comes out on video, it's just a movie quit reading things into it. Can't you christians just overlook things? Why do you have to dice everything up to find the evil? Everything has good and evil in it.
