Actually most Christians don't believe the Sabbath is a Sunday. Depending on which branch of Christianity you follow the Sabbath can be either Friday, Saturday, Or Sunday.

Hello,

If you refer back to the beginning of creation you willl notice that we began time at evening, Gen 1:2 you then proceed into the description of how each day becomes anew; 'there is evening and there is morning' and then the next day begins. Gen Chapter 1.

Our time is still the same and will not change until God creates a new heaven and earth. Rev 21:25

Therefore each day truly begins at evening and Friday evening has been the beginning of Saturday forever and it will always be. Thus the seventh day is Saturday beginning at sunset on Friday evening (Webster's Dictionary) and that's when it will always be upheld by anyone who obeys the fourth commandment in the Bible, 'to keep the Sabbath Holy and do no work.' Gen 2:2, Ex 20:8

The fact that people have tried to move the Sabbath Day to Sunday is completely void of any commandment in the Bible or instruction given by Christ, check with your clergy. This is a totally man made rule or opinion that has been permeated through the Christian sector for to long.

Please don't be mislead by following or even placing any value on these man made assumptions.

I think your question may need to be why did we move the true Sabbath to the 1st day of the week (our Sunday) when we were never told to do this by anyone in the Bible.

I hope this helps.

It doesn't. The Bible calls the Sabbath (Saturday) the seventh day of the week. Most Christians worship on Sunday, the first day.

It doesn't. The Bible doesn't use the same names for the days that we do. The names of our days came from the ancient gods of Greece and Rome.

Saturday is technically the seventh day of the week, but the 'Sabbath' spoken of in the Bible is actually a 24 hour period beginning on Friday at sunset and lasting until Saturday at sunset.

There is a confusion about two things in teh question. In the stories of creation - which incidentally I do not take literally - God rested on the seventh day which is observed by the Jews as the Sabbath on Friday night and Saturday. Christians decided to celebrate on the Sunday because it is the day on which we believe that the resurrection took place. Before anyone asks the question, no one can prove these assertions. They are statements of faith. I will base my life on them as do others.

Saturday is the 7th day of the week, the old testament is based upon the Torah and the worship of the planet Saturn which is why the jews have their holyday on SATURday, the Christians worship the new sun, and that's why their holyday is on SUNday. It's really that simple, go do some research on it.

Now Islam it's based mainly upon the worship of Venus whose color is green, and the day of the week of Venus is Friday... which is why the Muslim holy day is on Friday, and about a month ago they lit up the Empire State Building in green lights for 3 days starting on a Friday to mark the end of Ramadan.

It doesn't. It calls Saturday the seventh day. And Sunday the first.

Why do you think the Seventh Day Adventists call themselves that?

I would think Monday is the first day of the week, making Sunday the seventh. It's all entirely arbitrary, of course...

The Jewish Sabbath was on the Saturday, the 7th day of the week. Christians started using Sunday as their special day because it was the day Jesus rose from the dead.
