I consider myself Christian, and frankly I've been embarrassed by some of the responses posted by some "Christian" believers in this forum. Some have the tendancy to become argumentative, contentious, heated, and resort to petty name calling.

If anyone has gotten a response from me that sounded in any way like that I sincerely apologize.

But doesn't the previous statement go against the very foundatians of Christian belief (i.e.: Love thy neighbor as thyself, blessed are the peacemakers, etc.)? If so, does the Christian who engages in contentious, blatantly argumentative behavior prove themselves as actually being unchristian?

I wouldn't say that I'm concerned over hurting feelings, or being politically correct, I just don't feel it's necessary to make a case for your beliefs with calling other's names.

I'm beginning to believe for myself that being a "Mainstream Christian" actually is a bad thing. Did any of you ever see the Wife Swap episode that featured the lady that called herself a Christian Warrior?

The life of a Christian by definition is Christ-like. We have gotten to where we call anyone who says they believe in God a Christian whether or not their life reflects Jesus. But being a Christian does not always mean keeping quiet about things. False doctrines and teachers are supposed to be pointed out so that others are not trapped by them. However, anything we do or say should be with the spirit of love and concern.

Being politically correct is not the answer. We are to hate the things God hates. We are not to hate people but we are to hate the sinful actions they do. We have grown way too tolerant of sin. The TV and movies reflect just how tolerant we have become. We have come a long way from the shock when Clark Gable said "Frankly my dear I don't give a d____" to seeing those words and hearing them everyday.

We have allowed the minority to take away the rights of the majority through our court systems. Now being a Christian and going by the Bible is called being a fundamentalist and that is supposed to be something bad. I would like to ask what is wrong about accepting the scriptures as the Truth and trying to live by them just as they were instructed. Isn't that what the Lord told us to do. Who are we to think we have a better idea than God. There are many things that God and the writers of the New Testament say don't do that we do.

Why is that? It is because many churches instead of following the Bible are following their conventions. They vote to determine what should be taught or not. Well if a group of liberals get into the voting ranks and outnumber those trying to follow the Bible, then we have results such as homosexuals being church leaders and women preachers. The Lord's church was never supposed to be organized as a convention. God had a plan and if that plan is followed to day then the result will be a whole lot more unity. The plan was to select specially qualified men as elders to be the spiritual leaders and shepherds of a congregation. Their only responsibility was the congregation they were in. There are churches today that still follow that plan and have avoided these conventions of doctrine.

So my appeal to all of you who profess to be Christians is to open up your Bible and READ and STUDY it and see what it actually says rather than what the preacher or priest says it says or means. See if your church is following those teachings and if not then find one that is. The Bible warns that only those who do the Father's will can get to heaven. It will be by the Father's rules that we will be judged. So read and study and study some more. Make sure what you see at your church is God's will instead of man's. Your eternal fate depends on it.

Believe what you believe, let others choose their own path, and don't worry about it if someone questions your ways. Sounds more Buddhist than Christian, but it should work the same way.

Personally I don't mind at all when someone is religious. I don't agree with it, but it's completely their choice. I only mind when religion is used as a tool of policy such as not teaching evolution, not allowing gay marriage, and trying to make abortion illegal because every life is considered sacred. I say live your life the way you want to live it and extend others the same courtesy.

So many times the will of God is used as a wedge issue. I think people have forgotten that His most important messages are those of forgiveness, love, and togetherness. It's a shame how many people get too caught up in the minor details.

How do you call yourself a Christian, when you are following the doctrine of a man? I ask this, because you answered a question of mine recently.

You said that you are a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, and you believe in God the Eternal Father, and in his son Jesus Christ, and in the Holy Ghost. That is a good thing, and can be proven by the Bible (1 John 5:7-8).

You said, "We believe that man will be punished for his own sins, and not for Adam's transgression." Again, this is in scripture (Deut. 24:16, 2 Kings 14:6, Proverbs 5:22).

You said, "We believe that through the atonement of Christ, all mankind may be saved, by obedience to the laws and ordinances of the Gospel." So far, you're on a roll (Romans 5:11).

Here's where you go off the mark: You said, "We believe in faith in Jesus Christ, repentance for the remission of sins, Baptism by immersion for the remission of sins, and the gift of the Holy Ghost." You're four for four, but you forgot a couple of parts. You've got the BELIEVING (Hebrews 11:6), REPENTANCE (Luke 13:3,5) and BAPTISM parts (Acts 2:38, 8:37-38), but you forgot about HEARING the Word (Romans 10:17) and CONFESSING Christ to be the Son of God (Matthew 10:32-33).

Here's where you go off the mark again: You said, "We believe that both the Bible and Book of Mormon are the word of God, written by people inspired of God. We do not replace the Bible, instead we use the Book of Mormon to strengthen our faith in the Bible, as another testament of the divinity of Jesus Christ." Do you realize how much you sound like the commercials I've seen advertising the Book of Mormon? The Bible needs no extra help, no further testament of the divinity of Christ. The men who wrote the Book of Mormon were not inspired by the Holy Ghost. The Apostle John was the last apostle, and after he died, no other apostles were around, so no one else could write anything else that was included in the Bible (Revelation 22:18, Galatians 1:6-9).

You're really way off base with this one: you said, "We claim the privilege of worshiping God according to the dictates of our own conscience, and we allow all men the same privilege, let them worship how, where, or what they may." Who gave you this privilege? The Bible says that you are worshipping in vain, teaching as doctrine the commandments of men (Matthew 15:8-9). You are also worshipping ignorantly (Romans 10:1-3). Christians worship God in spirit and in truth (John 4:20-24). That's the only way to do it, and the only way that God accepts worship.

Neither Jesus nor the apostles taught anything about the LDS church. You won't find any references to it in the Bible, so why do you follow something that Jesus didn't die for?

When a Christian displays unchristian behavior as you have described, you can always advise them to read "1 Corinthians, Chapter 13," which happens to be one of my favorite chapters.

be in the world, but not of the world.

i dont beleive that you can become an un-christian for sinning

we are all sinners, and that is why Jesus died on the cross, evey time we sin (name calling in this case) then we repent, he takes away the burdan of sin, and put it on himself

People are people

some have strong convictions which when spoken of seem to be angry or arguementative when actually they are just stating Facts, and there facts are taken out of context.
But the name calling is pure foolishness and ought not be done PERIOD.
WE are to love our neighbor as ourself , and treat others as we want to be treated , unfortunately not many in todays society are taught those values not even so -called christians.
The word Christian has been took and put on like a coat or a pair of socks...and it has no more meaning to it them just that.wearing somethng one needs to show others they are something...when in reality your still naked , barefooted and need of TRUTH !! HOW WILL ANY UNBELIVER ever even want to accept anything from one who calls themselves CHRISTIAN yet refuses to be CHRIST-LIKE . NO Jesus wasnt passive , no he didnt sugar coat the Truth , nor water it down....and yes He drove out the money changers from the temple.........BUT ALL of that was an example...to show ALL HE was likened unto us...(.the Flesh).. YET HIM WITHOUT SIN....nothing wrong with righteous anger , nothing wrong with speaking TRUTH , and its not being Judgemental , or pias , its being a WATCHMAN for your Souls....as was our Wonderful LORD...who by HIS own example set forth for us to follow HIS WAYS , not mans traditions of dont offend , dont upset , dont rock the boat..........to long have the so-called Christian have set and watch while millions die everyday with the refusal to speak the Truth cause they dont want to offend anyone.........I have watched countless ones being decieved and decieving others in this GOD is LOVe and its all gonna be OK !!
NO ITS NOT
Without acceptence to Jesus Christ and His death at Calvary and HIS shedding of BLood and HIS RISING again and showing us and telling us to WARN....WARN....WARN.......
this world and those in it WILL BE LOST.......

""COME OUT FROM AMONG THEM AND BE YE SEPERATE AND TOUCH NOT THE UNCLEAN THING AND I WILL RECIEVE YOU UNTO MY SELF"".

not embarrassed of the words but sickened by the notion people call themselves christain and saved , yet speak worse then those who confess no believe at all .

APOLOGY
YES
to any who have thought
its not out of LOVE

but Apologize for its TRUTH
and WARNING
and STRONG TONE
NO

People are people
and are wanting to be coddled
and not abased
patted
not
rebuked
turn your head
not show them thier wrong
NONE of those things JESUS DID
Nor can a real Christian

But it must be out of LOve
Not puffed up/ prideful
attitudes
for it is written
without charity we have Nothing !!!!!!

People hurt each other...
If the other person/people was/were not Christian(s),
it would not have threatened my faith...
Some Christians wronged me and non-Christians encouraged me...
I can't seem to forgive them...

Most Christians act in ways at odds with the codified ramblings of the Bronze Age goat-herding Mithraists who originated their religion.

We non-Christians just accept that it's part of your charm.

Jesus knew how to reprove, rebuke, and exhort with all longsuffering and doctrine. He also knew how to remove the log in His own eye before removing the mote in another's eye. No christian I know of does.
