God created ALL things in heaven and on earth - including science and nature.

If He also used evolution as part of His creative process, I got no problem with that either!

And since science can't answer the fundamental question of the origin of life, God will always be necessary for those of us who seek truth.

Faith picks up where science leaves off - in other words, the God of the Gaps is brought in to explain what is not yet understood. That is not scientific, it is a cop-out. Science and religion will always be at odds. The former is based upon evidence, the latter upon belief in that for which there is no evidence. These cannot be reconciled unless you're doing some serious mental gymnastics.

Deism went out around the time of Thomas Jefferson. We have learned a lot since then, and there is no longer any need to attribute *anything* to an imaginary deity.

Science certainly is contrary to religion. Aside from numerous scientific theories that contradict various religious doctrines, the very concept of science is to assume nothing and to search for truth based on replicable experimentation and observation. I can't think of anything that contradicts science more than adherence to a religion.

You're a scientist, yeah sure. Science will prove religion, in the end. If there is an end. Everything has a scientific explanation.

Religion and science are not necesarily opposed. They just look at life from a different angle. So, I don't think that science is contrary to religion...

Depends what scientist you are and how much you believe in religion. Say, you can't be an evolution scientist and believe in the creationists theory, but you can be an Inventor.

I think science and religion have some incongruencies, but I think science is not at all inconsistent with faith.

I think people should give up religion, after they have learned all they can from it, and take up faith.

If they are contrary, then both you and I are deeply divided people.

They aren't contrary, of course.
