ok so me, my brother and my dad went squirrel hunting. we had been hunting all morning and we were about to tour the property. then out of the corner of my eye he saw a squirrel that ran up a tree. So it goes up a tree that is 3 trees combined at the stump. so we had to follow the left fork up and then it forked. (this is about 75-80 yards up, from what my dad said) So all you can see is its head just peeking right out. I had a 22 and after finding a good tree to shoot from i shot. BAM! head shot. it fell, and grabbed a branch, then fell and grabbed another. then it hit the ground. My first squirrel

Congratulations young man, it was a great shot...You have made a shot that will you will remember all of your life....Your Dad is a good man, to take you hunting. Fathers and sons whom hunt together, build a bond of respect and admiration that lasts a lifetime. Again, superb shooting, and thank you for sharing your story.......

I'd call it a good shot. You hit what you were aiming at. If you can do this regularly, then it is simply a good shot made by a good marksman. However, if you cannot do it regularly, that would make it a good shot by a LUCKY marksman.

By the way, I think your dad meant that the squirrel was 75 to 80 FEET up in the tree not yards. 75 yards is 225 feet. That's almost as tall as a 22 story building. Unless you shot it out of a Sequoia tree, that would be taller than most any other tree in the world. Still, 80 feet up in a tree is a good long shot for anybody. Good shooting!!! Keep it up.

Sounds like a pretty sweet shot. I'm not too sure how hard shooting squirrels is because i live in Australia, but from about 80 yards off their head would be hard to see I imagine.

Great Shot! Keep it up.

Congrats on your first squirrel. I think they taste pretty good too. I want to say good job on not only that one shot but the ones it sounds you may have put in at the range or practicing in the backyard. Many times you don't hear on this section about someone taking a good shot and harvesting the game correctly.

Any head shot at 80 yards is a great shot, give yourself a pat on the back, well done!

Sounds like a great shot to me. You got him in the head, he didn't suffer, and I hope you ate him. Hope you realize that as a good hunter you have a responsibility to make sure you have good shot placement so that you put the animal down fast and with as little suffering as possible. Great shot.

Awsome, standing head shot, good work. Did you eat it?? Not much to eat on one of then lol, but if your keen you can skin them easily then gut it, then open it up in the centre like a book and cook it on the BBQ like that, they are actually bloody good, but you really need a few of them, for a good feed. Goes well with a nice beer:-)
