I have recently moved in to a rented house and in one room the carpet is a horrible pink colour. The problem is my landlord does not want me to take it up. As I am going to be here for about a year I would like to cover it with a cheap carpet. Can I lay another carpet on top.

Yes you can, but you may find that you will have to take off any doors to the room and plane or saw a piece of the bottom of the door/s. The new carpet that is laid on top of an old carpet will not pull up or destroy the old carpet underneath unless you spill an hell of a lot of liquid on your new carpet.

The biggest reasons for not doing this is like this; There is not a good way to attach and strech the carpet to keep it secure. Secondly the doors won't work properly. And lastly, your landlord is an *ss. Go thru your contract again and find a reason why he should. Sounds as if he/she is awfully cheap. good luck

Yes you can But you may ripples and the doors may need cutting . The life of the carpet can also be affected as any high spots will be worn quicker. You cant beat a good underlay!

I have done this the only effect was that furniture makes larger indents but the carpet is softer to walk on, you may have to fit riser hinges to the doors to lift them over the carpet, which is what I did.

I wondered the same. Hmp. Not as simple as I'd thought. Dang. Well I'll buy one large mthr fckn AREA RUG. I wanted the plushest carpet I could find, over the office carpet that is throughout the newly built affordable senior living apt we are moving into. So be it.

Yes of course you can....but make sure you can close the door when you have done it....you may have to shave some off the bottom of the doors which he wont like.
