It's actually faux-hawk...as in fake mohawk. A mohawk actually has the hair on the sides of the head shaved to the skin and a faux-hawk just has a basically normal haircut that's gelled up to resemble a mohawk.

Well, a mohawk is when the sides are completly shaved of, and their is hair in the middle, a fohawk is a fake mohawk, which is when the sides are not shaved of, but the hair in the middle is a bit shorter than a real mohawk.

Hope I helped!

A mohawk is what it is, shaved completely on the sides and the hawk starts at your forehead and ends at the nape of your neck.
And the other one is actually spelled "Faux"hawk. "Faux" is the French word for fake. Fauxhawks usually have hair on the side and the hawk part of it is only on the top of your head. Faux hawks are styled so that you can wear it up in a hawk or put it down and keep mom happy.

I guess the difference is that with a mohawk, you shave the sides of your head, and with a fohawk you don't.

I'm assuming you know what a mohawk is already. A faux-hawk is when you don't shave your hair on both sides. Usually you pull your hair into ponytails from front to back like a mohawk. It's gained popularity because of Sanjaya from American Idol. Do a search for it on dogpile.
