You're looking at somewhere between 1937 and the early 80's on that model 94. The series M, some folks will guess at mid 70's, but that's nothing but a pure guess. Series numbers on that gun simply meant what the gun left the factory as, not a date code. For example, series C guns were still being sold in the 70's. Not even Savage could ever produce a date ref for those. Heck, I collect old single shots exactly like that and *I* can't even tell you.
If yours has a serial number, it's post 1968....that's as close as you can really get.
As I said, they were produced for close to fifty years....NOT one year only as JD said. The 94 was the most common shotgun Savage Stevens produced as anyone that knows old shotguns can tell you. A "one year only" gun would be exceptionally rare....and NOT have "no collector value". The firearm was in fact extremily common....and even though it is a good gun, the commonality makes it low priced.

RE:
Any idea on when this model of shot gun was made?
I have 12 Ga, Stevens 94M made by Savage. My grandpa left it to me when he passed away and I wanted to know when it was made.

Sorry mate, but my Blue Book of Gun Values, admittedly out of date, does not list a Savage Model 94-M.
Are you sure of the make and model?

Your Savage-J. Stevens-Springfield Single Shot Break Action Shotgun was manufactured in 1929 ( 1 Year ONLY) It was manufactured by Savage, but sold under 8 different Model Numbers and at least 4 brand names including Savage, J. Stevens Arms Company,Springfield Arms, and Revelation. It was a mass produced Shotgun, but exact production totals are unknown. It was manufactured in 12 gauge,16,20,28 and 410 Gauge and was made in 28" and 30" Barrel Lengths.
Since it was a mass produced firearm it has no real collectors value........

Production began for these guns in 1929, and they were discontinued at a later date; my source doesn't say when. Value is $40-95, and last MSRP was $92.
