Jews, Muslims and some Christians do accept the dietary laws as prescribed in Leviticus 11.
I will copy and paste part of that chapter here for you:
"Lev 11:3 Whatsoever parteth the hoof, and is clovenfooted, and cheweth the cud, among the beasts, that may ye eat.
Lev 11:4 Nevertheless these shall ye not eat of them that chew the cud, or of them that part the hoof: the camel, because he cheweth the cud but parteth not the hoof, he is unclean unto you.
Lev 11:5 And the coney, because he cheweth the cud but parteth not the hoof, he is unclean unto you.
Lev 11:6 And the hare, because she cheweth the cud but parteth not the hoof, she is unclean unto you.
Lev 11:7 And the swine, because he parteth the hoof, and is clovenfooted, but cheweth not the cud, he is unclean unto you.
Lev 11:8 Of their flesh ye shall not eat, and their carcasses ye shall not touch; they are unclean unto you.
Lev 11:9 These may ye eat of all that are in the waters: whatsoever hath fins and scales in the waters, in the seas, and in the rivers, that may ye eat.
Lev 11:10 And all that have not fins and scales in the seas, and in the rivers, of all that move in the waters, and of all the living creatures that are in the waters, they are an abomination unto you,
Lev 11:11 and they shall be an abomination unto you; ye shall not eat of their flesh, and their carcasses ye shall have in abomination.
Lev 11:12 Whatsoever hath no fins nor scales in the waters, that is an abomination unto you.
Lev 11:13 And these ye shall have in abomination among the birds; they shall not be eaten, they are an abomination: the eagle, and the gier-eagle, and the ospray,
Lev 11:14 and the kite, and the falcon after its kind, "
There may be a scientific reason for these laws. Essentially, the best diet, as found in the Bible, is fruits, whole grains, vegetables and nuts. This is the SAME advice given by health professionals TODAY. (If you must eat meat, the Bible identifies which ones to use).
Interestingly, I have learned that the U.S. Navy, in one of its leaflets to its sailors, state something to the effect that if a sailor is stranded on an island and he has to eat fish, he should choose those with scales and fins. I am sure THEY have a scientific explanation for this - something to do with salt absorption.
Lastly, some texts from the New Testament are taken out of context by some Christians to prove that Jesus and Paul stated that you can eat anything. How about a plate of worms prepared as spaghetti, with meat from toads and snakes, along with a salad of green marajuana sprinkled with cocaine?

I'm going to answer your question in historical perspective.
Apparently, it is in the Qu'ran. Now, let me first tell something about how Islam originated. Historians say that Muhammad had actually been to the present day Jordan. That place is near to Israel where he have probably heard many stories about Yahweh, Adam, Noah, Moses, Abraham, Jesus, etc. Also, he may have known all the things Christians and Jews believe in.
Critics of the Muslim faith had always said that Muhammad probably felt bad about his homeland's pagan religions. For some historians though, they'll just say Muhammad just said what he heard in Jordan. And then he claimed to be God's latest prophet. That's why Qu'ran contains many Biblical stories, though many of them differ in many details (Primarily because Muhammad read no scriptures while he narrated the message of Allah and that Qu'ran was first transmitted orally for some generation before being written.)
So why do Muslim don't eat pork? Because Mosaic Law (the laws of Moses found in the Old Testament) prohibits the eating of pork. God (or Yaweh or Jehovah) has promised Abraham (through his grandchild Israel) that his sons will be a great nation. That's why some say that God initiated some laws which will make Israel healthy (And that's proven, very Muslim nowadays die because of heart attack due to cholesterol). These include not eating of pork, not having sex while the woman has menstruation, taking a multiple baths a day when a woman was in menstruation and others. And some (if not many) of these Mosaic laws were "heard" by Muhammad and relayed it to his native Arab homeland.
Today, many Christian denominations don't follow the Mosaic Law. They say Jesus has already created a new set of laws. (I don't know what the Jews believe nowadays).
I don't intend to bring anything against Islam. All religions in the world are viewed very differently in HISTORICAL PERSPECTIVE. Islam is not an exemption.

The Qur'ân prohibits the consumption of pork in no less than 4 different places. It is prohibited in 2:173, 5:3, 6:145 and 16:115.
"Forbidden to you (for food) are: dead meat, blood, the flesh of swine, and that on which hath been invoked the name of other than Allah." [Al-Qur'ân 5:3]
Allaah does not prescribe any ruling but there is great wisdom behind it, which we may understand, or our minds may not be guided to understand it. We may know some of it but a great deal is hidden. Here are some reasons:
1. Consumption of pork causes several diseases
Eating of pork can cause no less than seventy different types of diseases. A person can have various helminthes like roundworm, pinworm, hookworm, etc. One of the most dangerous is Taenia Solium, which is in lay man’s terminology called tapeworm. It harbours in the intestine and is very long. Its ova i.e. eggs, enter the blood stream and can reach almost all the organs of the body. If it enters the brain it can cause memory loss. If it enters the heart it can cause heart attack, if it enters the eye it can cause blindness, if it enters the liver it can cause liver damage. It can damage almost all the organs of the body.
Another dangerous helminthes is Trichura Tichurasis. A common misconception about pork is that if it is cooked well, these ova die. In a research project undertaken in America, it was found that out of twenty-four people suffering from Trichura Tichurasis, twenty two had cooked the pork very well. This indicates that the ova present in the pork do not die under normal cooking temperature.
2. Pork has fat building material
Pork has very little muscle building material and contains excess of fat. This fat gets deposited in the vessels and can cause hypertension and heart attack. It is not surprising that over 50% of Americans suffer from hypertension.
3. Pig is one of the filthiest animals on earth
The pig is one of the filthiest animals on earth. It lives and thrives on muck, faeces and dirt. It is the best scavenger that I know that God has produced. In the villages they don’t have modern toilets and the villagers excrete in the open air. Very often excreta is cleared by pigs.
Some may argue that in advanced countries like Australia, pigs are bred in very clean and hygienic conditions. Even in these hygienic conditions the pigs are kept together in sties. No matter how hard you try to keep them clean they are filthy by nature. They eat and enjoy their own as well as their neighbour’s excreta.
P.S The Bible prohibits the consumption of pork, in the book of Leviticus
"And the swine, though he divide the hoof, and be cloven footed, yet he cheweth not the cud; he is unclean to you". "Of their flesh shall ye not eat, and their carcass shall ye not touch, they are unclean to you." [Leviticus 11:7-8]
Pork is also prohibited in the Bible in the book of Deuteronomy
"And the swine, because it divideth the hoof, yet cheweth not the cud, it is unclean unto you. Ye shall not eat of their flesh, nor touch their dead carcass." [Deuteronomy 14:8]
A similar prohibition is repeated in the Bible in the book of Isaiah chapter 65 verse 2-5.

It's part of the four basic food groups that God ordered on not to eat, as stated in the Qur'an.
The four basic food groups are:
- blood
- carcass
- pork
- anything slain not under God's name
They can be eaten if the believers are in a tight spot and they meant no offense to God.
There are no detailed explanation in the Qur'an on why these are not to be eaten, either it's too complicated to be explained or God just forbid them to be eaten.

G-d told them they shouldn't any one with a different answer is misinformed, and the same story for why Jews must keep kosher, no one knows why it is commanded in the bible but it is so they obey. There are 613 commandments in three types. The first set is things people would do anyway even if G-d didn't order, the second type are things that people might not do on their own but see reasoning behind G-d's instructions. Then the final group are things orderd for seemingly no reason at all. No pork is from this last group.

If one is forced by famine (to eat prohibited food), without being deliberately sinful, then GOD is Forgiver, Merciful.
Only Four Meats Prohibited
"Animals that die of themselves" Defined
[5:3] Prohibited for you are animals that die of themselves, blood, the meat of pigs, and animals dedicated to other than GOD. (Animals that die of themselves include those) strangled, struck with an object, fallen from a height, gored, attacked by a wild animal - unless you save your animal before it dies - and animals sacrificed on altars. Also prohibited is dividing the meat through a game of chance; this is an abomination. Today, the disbelievers have given up concerning (the eradication of) your religion; do not fear them and fear Me instead. Today, I have completed your religion, perfected My blessing upon you, and I have decreed Islam/Submission as the religion for you. If one is forced by famine (to eat prohibited food), without being deliberately sinful, then GOD is Forgiver, Merciful.

I think it might have been an historical reason. I suspect at one time our porcine friends might have been the carrier of parasites or disease, and the health authorities at the time advised people against the consumption of pork.
It just got absorbed into the middle eastern culture.
