Actually, it is not the central (federal) government. It's more like SOME state governments that have done this.

It would appear that they are trying to maintain the status quo whereby the higher castes keep the lower castes in literal slavery. In Christianity, everyone is accepted as equals, brothers and sisters.

i didnt know that but im not suprised. of all the religions ( even islam ) christianity is viewed as the biggest threat. its the only religion that the devil is attacking. even though that does reaffirm my faith, it makes me sad that so many people are denied the opportunity to hear the gospel. but then again, they tried to stop christianity in the past but werent successful. GOD is more powerful than any government.

Never trust anything you read from the BBC. They are about as biased as any journalists can be, and as such, you never know how much they have exaggerated their stories. They hate Christians as well as conservatives (and Bush) especially.

Actually, it was to prevent people from being forced to convert to Islam, and to keep the dalit people slaves to the brahmas. get your facts straight!
