Have a 95 Nissan Maxima with 118 miles on it. When the car starts it shudders a lil bit and then goes back to normal. Sometimes the car wouldnt start? Is this because of a starter problem ?Just had the batteries replaced.

Most of the time i have to crank it over and over and it wouldn't start. When the car starts it shudders for a quick 5 secs? What could be the cause? coil, distributor, fuel pump, starter problems?

I would concentrate on checking fuel pressure problem.
Does the fuel remain in the injectors fuel rail or drain back to fuel tank.
Try to turn key on for 3 seconds then off for at least 5 seconds.
Repeat the key on/off procedure for 3 times before crank and start the engine. Every time you turn on ignition key the ECM will activate the fuel pump then turn it off after a couple seconds if ECM does not see cranking signal.

Sorry to be raising the dead on this one, but I have about the exact same thing. 98 Maxima, and it won t stay primed. If it s turned off for more than 3 hours it seems all the fuel drains back to the tank, and it can t seem to get the fuel to the injectors. From what I ve found it seems that the problem is most likely the fuel injector pressure regulator. I ve replaced the fuel pump with no change. It ll just keep cranking over without starting if it s been sitting for more than 3 hours. Need advice, or suggestions. Do you think I m on the right path?

The sputtering may be the solenoid at the starter clicking/vibrating quickly. It is usually the sign of a low, or terminally ill battery - check voltage for 12V. If the car starts after charging or with a boost, it means the battery was discharged, while lights and radio may still have worked. If unsuccessful, have the solenoid and starter motor checked, for instance at Auto Zone or similar garage. The alternator is also in the mix, either charging the system as it is supposed to, or not.
