My uncles and cousins who stuttered (same thing as stammering) got the book "Self Therapy for the Stutterer" and worked through it step by step. They all overcame their stuttering with lots of practice. One uncle went to a speech therapist who specialized in treating stuttering and found that she used that book in her sessions. You can get it from Amazon.com or www.stutteringhelp.org. It is also online in part. Do a search for the title.

Hi! I used to stutter A LOT too. But I went to a speach doctor for about 2 years when I was around 12 y/o. It helped me. But a lot of stammering can come from an emotional problem. I started getting better when I made real friends, and started believing more in myself. I never spoke in front of anybody because I would be sooo embaressed. What was the reason you started stammering? Did a relative or somebody close die? Did you go through a traumatizing experience? Did your parents get a divorce or something? See a speach doctor, and try to be more confident. It helped me! I don't stutter anymore. Actually, when I'm mad or have to say something in front of the whole class, I still trip on the words a little, but I'm way better! So, go to a speach doctor! Hope you get better! =)

A good speech thrapist can help you.

But know that mis-speak is a common language malady and can be helped with proper training.
