His marriage issue has nothing to do with race or culture, it has to do with is he making the right decision? Talk to him about it and find out his views, don't assume.

Hmmm, I'm not sure culture is the real issue. Yes honour and loyalty are Japanese values, but not only Japanese values. You might remind him about that. Sounds like he is skirting the issue, unless something else is up that hasn't been mentioned. That is if you use a lot of guilt trips on him. Don't know, just guessing. Good luck. Konichi wa.

Girl I am in the military and I have lived overseas for 11.5 years some of them in Japan. Ha ha, I've seen lots of guys fall for foreign gals and marry them happily. Culture has nothing to do with his not asking you to marry him. Something else is stopping him.

I think he's playing you! If you date a girl for a year and a half, You know if you want to marry her or not! Face it, he's using you for a good time and his ethnic background is a weak, pathetic excuse. He isn't a real man or he wouldn't be saying things like that!

i dont think its black men, i think its just MEN. lol all american men dont want to get married, they like being free. Just make sure he loves you, and that he's the one. Make sure that he will marry you sooner or later, dont just let him lead you on.
