Do you ever wonder why they cannot ask there mother, or a women figure in there life about things like this? Do you wonder if there parents have even talked to them about this?
I was greatful that my mother talked to me about this stuff before it even happend, and I plan to talk to my daughter!
I find it sad that there are teens that have to come to yahoo answers because they have no one to talk to or choose not to talk to someone they know.....

I think it's good that questions like that mostly receive serious answers.

No matter how good of a parent you are, there are some things a kid would rather keep private from you. I've talked to my daughter all along about sex and her body, etc, but when she had a question, she turned not to me but to Google!

Kids are raised now with a universe of information at their fingertips, with no embarrassment to them. It seems separate from their "real life". Sometimes that is good, sometimes bad... but it is what it is.

I agree with Marion! I have talked to all three of my daughters about their bodies and the changes that will occur- age appropriate of course. We discuss these things often yet my oldest is not comfortable talking to me about some aspects of sexual health. She will look up the info and then come and talk to me- almost like she is quizzing me!
And I am glad there is someplace like yahoo answers that might just give some decent advice or info to those teens that are asking.

I think its just embarrassing for them. Girls these days are getting their periods younger and younger so they don't really know how to handle such a big change. I wasn't even really a teen when I got my first one i think i was about eleven still an elementary schooler. I was so embarrassed and a little ashamed I didn't tell my mom til the month after.

Maybe she was looking for a second opinion..or it might be unconfortable for her to talk to her mother about it, sometimes it is really hard to say stuff like that to your mother, i know i barley tell my mum anything about my life coz she will annoy me about it && it's just awkward to talk about guys && stuff like that with her coz she has really different opinions to me.

It is sad that they can't discuss this with their mum.
