My husband hates dancing and will rarely, if ever, dance at social events. I think its mainly because he's not a very good dancer, and is probably somewhat embarrassed (even though he would likely never admit that part.) I think the main thing to remember is, who cares what you look like when your dancing, as long as you're having fun. If other people make jokes, then they are being immature, and should be ignored.

You don't have to dance & dancing is not necessary to have a wedding, not required at all. There's a whole discussion on OffBeat Bride.com right now about not having dancing at your wedding. Just remember if you don't have dancing, you will need to do something else to fill the time. I think with some people it could be not wanting to be in the "spotlight" - this I understand, as I do a lot of public speaking as well. In that case dance lessons might do the trick & you could just do one dance & quit.

My man hates dancing, but it was only because he couldn't.
Have some dancing lessons and you will be fine. We all have made idiots of ourselves on the dance floor at least once!

I don't make an issue of it, I just don't dance. I am happy to do the slow ones where you just step about, but anything other than that I just smile and look like I am enjoying watching them.

If it is for a wedding skip the traditional first dance if it makes your sweetie unhappy and dance with family and friends later. Or skip dancing altogether. I'd still have music for ambience though.

I don't like dancing. In 2.5yrs with my fiance, he dragged me onto a dancefloor 1 time.
About 6 months before my weddding, i plan to take lessons.
