You people do realize that these pizza delivery guys/girls get paid full wages. They do not make 2 or 3 dollars an hour like a waiter/waitress. Plus on top of that you are already paying 2 dollars for delivery. My personal opinion is that tipping the pizza person is ridiculous considering the kind of money they charge you for a pizza.

I always tip....ALWAYS. Although they do not get paid the small wage of what a server does still they do not get paid outrageous money either. If that was the case there would be alot more pizza delivery people. LOL! No really, though. If delivering pizza is the person's only source of income and he or she is working to support themselves, or God forbid, a family then they do not make alot of money at all and the tips they receive are more than likely very very crucial to helping them make ends meet. 10 years ago I worked a job where I received tips. I made 8$ an hour and I received tips(I am a cosmetologist)and I was a single mom. My tip money paid for groceries, daycare, car insurance, utilities....If I would have had to depend solely on my wages my daughter and I would have been struggling badly. If a person has never worked a job where they receive tips then it is easy for them not to understand the importance of that money. It does not make you selfish because you did not put yourself on the other side of the scenario. Oh, not to mention the price of gas and wear and tear on their personal vehicles. Good grief...fuel must take most of their tips these days and that makes it understandable that they added the delivery fee into the final price of the pizza. I think they deserve every tip they get. I think from your additional comments you see a different side to this now. Yahoo answers is very good about opening eyes and helping people see the other side!!!!!

man you are so wrong about what pizza delivery guys get. I delivered pizza's for a year and we got paid squat. What most pizza places do is pay u minimum wage which is like $6.00....before taxes.... you also get tips, which isnt really to good if ur not in a rich neighborhood. The only extra u get is a certain percentage of however much the food was.

Also if its a dine in pizza place as well as delivery, guess who has to do dishes while they are waiting for their delivery to come up.

I usually always tip around 20% because they really dont get as much as u think, even with a 15% tip it will only average to $9.00/hr and thats if they rush

You should tip, it's factored into the salaries like waiters and such. Plus, the cost of gas is going up faster than the 'delivery fee' is. Also, that delivery fee usually doesn't all go to the driver, like only one dollar.

Here's the best rules to follow:
1) bare minimum - round up then add one dallar to that
2) if the weather is bad, add more
3) if you live far from the shop, add more
4) if it's not a noramlly busy time of day, add more (they probably made the trip just for your one order)
5) if it's a heavy traffic time of day, add more (they used more gas to get to you, and made fewer deliveries that hour due to traffic)
6) if you live in an apartment building, add more (hard to explain, but apartments suck)
7) If you don't want to tip, go pick up your own dang pizza :-p

If there's a delivery fee I tip 15-20%, if not I tip 30%.

If they have a forced tip aka "delivery fee" that's all they get. Usually, I give 2-3, sometimes more if I have extra cash, I'm feeling particually lazy or generous, or if the weather is bad. BTY, that's for a 20 dollar or less order...

I usually give him or her (we sometimes have a pizza girl) 15-20%. If the weather is bad, we go higher.

i tip them 5% they have to fill thier gas tanks up and at 7$ an hr compared to $3.50 a gal of gas they might just make minimum wage per hr.
