You will be a "conditional permanent resident." After you have been married for two years, you may apply for your "permanent green card" by filing an I-751.

The card you will get is what is known as a 'conditional green card' - it expires in two years.
You can apply to have these conditions removed by filing Form I-751, Petition to Remove the Conditions of Residence. You can find this form on the website below - bookmark if you wish for future reference.
http://www.uscis.gov/portal/site/uscis/menuitem.5af9bb95919f35e66f614176543f6d1a/?vgnextoid=f858d59cb7a5d010VgnVCM10000048f3d6a1RCRD&vgnextchannel=db029c7755cb9010VgnVCM10000045f3d6a1RCRD
The earliest you may file to have these conditions removed is 90 days prior to the expiration date of your conditional green card, but you cannot file a single day before or a single day after your conditional green card expires. Only during that 90 day period.
Oh and you asked about your status?
You are now a permanent resident of the United States.

Yes it's a conditional green card. You are considered a permanent resident :) Congrats!!
A misconception is that you get those conditions removed after you have been married for 2 years. That's not so. It's after you have been a permanent resident for 2 years.

You are a Lawful Permanant Resident (LPR) or Green Card Holder as of the interview date which you got approval. After 2 years from your LPR approval and still married to your spouse, you can apply to remove your "Conditional" status. Welcome!

I don't know the answer to your question, unfortunately. I would like to say, however, that if anyone starts in with racist remarks about immigrants I will report them. I can already see this getting ugly, please keep it civil and answer her question if you can.
