i have a friend that was ordained 5 years ago (online) to do a wedding and now he wants to do another one... it's still legal, right? he hasn't done anything else with the certification.

Every state has different laws. Check with your local city clerks office.

I would look at the site where they got ordained, or call them up and ask if it is for life or if it needs to be renewed.

I just checked one site, and it said "you are ordained for life' and no renewals are needed.

Another site (ULC) does not state exactly.

I would look at their certificate and figure out if anything is there.

I think my brother said that his expired, so yes, I believe they need to be renewed regularly..
