Hi, i got my wisdom teeth taken out this morning and the pain killer that i was given is called hydrocodone, and i'm supposed to take one every four hours. it's a bit past midnight and the last time i took one was ten o'clock. do you think anything terrible would happen if i took two right now so it is easier and less painful to sleep through the whole night?

wait at least 3 hrs,i know it sucks or maybe call the pharmacy and ask.

probably you recommend 5/500, that's 5mg hydrocodone and 500 mg tylenol. the situation is which you're taking 5 greater potential tylenol at as quickly as once you are attempting this (i'm shocked you weren't nauseated and throwing up from the 25mg of hydrocodone additionally). once you're making a habit of taking this dose for some days you are going to be able to reason liver failure from Tylenol overdose.

Nothing will happen. You can take 2, but don't make a habit of it. 2 at bedtime is ok. The only reason it's not great is that it's super addictive, and trust me, I've been there, it's rough. But you'll be safe if you stop taking it in a few days, and 2 at bedtime will be just fine. In fact, every surgery I've had, the instructions were to take 2 at a time.

I agree with the nurse above, that you can take ibuprofen but absolutely do not take extra tylenol because vicodin tabs have acetominophen in them.
Unfortunately, wisdom teeth pain is pretty bad and I remember that the first night I felt horrible. The vicodin didn't completely work, but at least it numbed my brain lol. Please though, do not take more vicodin than you were instructed to take. If you take more than you are supposed to, it is easier to get addicted to them.
If you still feel bad tomorrow, call the doctor and see if you can safely take more vicodin. Until then, you just have to suffer through the night like we all did :(

you can take some motrin to help with the pain but DO NOT take tylenlol with hydrocodone beceause it has 500mg of tylenol in each tab. you take. after 0200 am you could take 2 tabs but then wait the whole four hours before you take it again ok good luck

To cover your butt,call the doc. and ask permission first.Because if you don't,and you find that you need a refill,if you take more than prescribed,your going to run out early,and thats a red flagg for abuse,and it will go in your medical chart for life,and down the road if you ever need pain med. for what ever reason,most likely you won't get them.

DON'T DO IT !!!
You are playing a very dangerous game. Hydrocodone is a very dangerous narcotic drug and if you do not treat it as such
you could wind up in trouble very quickly.
