You have to understand that the creation story was taken from ancient Sumerian texts. In these texts, there were two stories. One told of Elohim creating the world.....Elohim is a plural form of God. The second version told of Jehovah creating the world....Jehovah is a singular form of God. When the book of Genesis was put together these two stories were combined, causing all sorts of contradiction and confusion.
This is one reason why I don't take this storybook literally!
Many Blessings!

No, these verses have nothing to do with angels. The Godly Cainite and Shehite females allowed themselves to be taken by men of different spiritual backgrounds or no spiritual background at all which was an abomination to God. The Giants were the Nephilim, mighty warriors of the day who took what they wanted and by indication they too had their way with some of the Cainite and Shehite women. Children were produced by these Godless unions which displease God in a mighty way--"train up a child in the way he should go and when old he will not depart from it".

The first part of the book of Genesis contrasts the lineage of Cain with the lineage of Seth, and is meant to foreshadow the rivalry between the Israelite tribes and the indigenous Canaanites. This passage fits that theme, suggesting that the descendents of Seth (the Sons of God) intermarried with the descendents of Cain (the daughters of men). Their descendents were the Nephilim (modern translations follow the Septuagint and incorrectly render the word "giants"). The Nephilim, of course, were the Philistines of Gath who gave David so much trouble near the conclusion of the narrative. It was a literary device, nothing more, and had nothing to do with angels and humans.

And like anything else in the Bible, you aren't expected to take it seriously until you understand it, and you are never supposed to take it literally. (If it were meant to be read literally, it would have been in the Jewish historical annals, and not in the religious lectionary. But that's another story.)

Let me say first off the bat that I'm not proclaiming to be a theology expert or the most well-versed person of the Bible. I'm simply stating what I was told when I asked the very same question. Don't freak. :)
To answer your question in a word---yes. I don't know all of the specifics, but in a nutshell, angels came from heaven to breed with human woman, producing giants. It's a theory that this was a reason for the great flood---among other reasons, I'm sure, God wanted to wipe out the bastardized race of giants on the earth.
Take everything I've said with a grain of salt, and read my little intro! :)

first of all those the place not angels. If angelsdemons might have intercourse have faith me we'd have multiple demon spawn around. There 2 style of issues that are called as sons of God interior the Bible: angels and people who understand God residing they're existence as God instructions. So the sons of God the place the descendants of Set on a similar time as the daughters of adult adult males the place the descendants of Cain. when you consider that guy lived a protracted time he replaced into waiting to amass multiple expertise he usually misused. we are suggested they practiced witchcraft and cannibalism. approximately giants i've got faith they existed, yet in user-friendly terms in the previous the flood could giants of the variety we pay attention in thoughts could exist. yet another exciting actuality is than in maximum thoughts the giants are evil and cannibalistic in basic terms because of the fact the Bible describes them.

If you don't look at anybody else's answer, seriously take a look at mine.

P.S. Jude vs. 6-7 also speak of these same fallen angels who left their heavenly habitation to wander after unnatural lusts with women, after "strange flesh", as is comparable to the sinful practices of fleshly sexual desire in Sodom and Gomorrah.

Also, consider Goliath--the giant whom David slew. He came from a race of giants, and their tribes are mentioned specifically in the Bible (ie., Anakim, Rephaim, etc.). Some of these tribes, the Israelites were charged by God to slay for they were still practicing the same abominable and sinful acts their forefathers had been taught to do by the rebel angels.

There is also King Og of Bashan mentioned in the Bible. The giant was so peculiar, he is also said to have had the trademark six toes and six fingers morphologically anomalous feature. His immense armor fittings and bed measurements are recorded. They are enormous.

Genesis 6:1-4.

and it came to past when men began to multiply on the face of the earth(nothing about angels MEN) and daughters were born unto them. Witch means woman were not for God, but born for man.
2. That the sons of God( man in Gods image) saw the daughters of men(woman in mans image) that they were fair; and they took
them wife's of ALL which they chose( God never mated man, man took their own wife's, so God is not part of marriage of man and woman)
3. and the Lord said, my spirit shall not always strive with man(nothing about angels), for he also is flesh.( Means God left man because they have no idea what love or righteousness is). yet his days shall be an hundred and twenty years.
4. There were Giants in the earth in those days( this does not say that the giants came from man, but could be of a beast(DINOSAURS large animals) AND ALSO after that, when the sons of God(man from God), came in unto the daughters of man( had sex with woman) and they bare children to them, the same became mighty men which were of old, men of renown. (Notice these certain men were the ones that still had God living in them, ones that were probably 600 yrs old or more) and with the offspring of these still powerful in the spirit people created mighty men....but those mighty men that they created would only live 120 yrs of age or less. So the last of Gods mighty spirit people, gave life to mighty people.

it is the transference stage when God left men....they were once strong with him, but are now.....weak feeble people.

I can't see any other interpretation. That's what it means alright. Another random disconnected part of the random disconnected myth.

As for the thumbs down, as any Chrsitian on this site will tell you, you have to have thumbs down so that the thumbs up have some meaning just as Jebus needs a counterbalance - Satan, to give His story complete meaning.

1. These were either sons of the Line of Seth,
2. Ungodly kings or princes, or
3. Most likely fallen angels who were subsequently confined because of this particular sin!

No, the 'sons of God' and 'daughters of men' were all human beings. None of them were angels. The 'sons of God' are people who were worshippers of and believers in God. The daughters of men were not worshippers of God.

The definition of a son of God in Genesis 6 is the same as it is today:

Galatians 3:26 "You are all sons of God through faith in Christ Jesus"

I hope that helps!

(For those who are giving me a thumbs down because I don't believe that the nephilim were the offspring of angels and humans, please do check out my reasons below.)

EDIT: I didn't want to post a long post, but here goes:

These are my reasons why I do not believe that the sons of God refered to in Gen 6 could be angels:

1. Jesus said that angels do not marry. (Matthew 22:30 and Mark 12:25)

2. Acording to the writer of Hebrews God never called any angel “son”. (Hebrew 1:5)

3. A son looks like his father. Man, not angels, was made in the image of God. (Genesis 1:26-27)

4. A son is given his father’s name. Angels are never called by the Name of God.

5. A son has an inheritance. There is no Biblical record of angels ever having an inheritance from God. If angels are sons of God then that would make them co-heirs with Christ. Angels are not His co-heirs. We are! (Romans 8:7, Galatians 3:29, 4:7, Ephesians 3:6, Hebrews 6:17)

6. If angels used to be sons of God and no longer are, then why were they ‘demoted’? How could it be possible for God to no longer be their father? God doesn’t divorce Himself from His children. Yes, some angels are fallen, but not all are!

7. If the Nephilim were the children of the union of angels and people they would have been destroyed by the Flood. If so, how do they appear after the Flood too? (Numbers 13:33)

8. If God was angry at people for intermarrying with angels why was He not angry with the angels too? The Genesis account only shows Him as being angry at men.

9. If angels are sons of God then that would make the devil a son of God too (or a former son of God) because he is a fallen angel. That is what the Mormons believe: that Jesus and Satan are brothers. That is complete heresy! The Word of God does not support that at all! Satan was an angel, not a son of God.

10. Angels are not flesh and blood. How does a spiritual being produce semen? After all, even Lucifer/Satan had to possess a snake’s body in order to talk to Eve.

11. In Genesis 1 we read about how God placed the seed of each species He created (plants, creatures of the sea, birds, animals, and creeping things, etc.) inside each created thing. Each was to reproduce according to its own kind. This is why, if you take a horse and a donkey, the offspring, being a mule or a hinney, is almost always sterile. God never created the mule. It is a hybrid. Thus, it does not have the ability to reproduce itself. This is a law of God’s Creation: “like produces like”. Thus, I don’t see how it would be possible for the offspring of angels and humans to reproduce.

It is not illegal for us Christians to use our heads to think :-)

God bless you all!
