Actually, to be specific, "The Golden Compass" is only the first in the book series (named the "His Dark Materials" trilogy) upon which the films are based, so I don't actually know if they're going to stick with the "Golden Compass" title throughout the trilogy of films.

Also, the pair of angel lovers (Balthamos & Baruch) don't show up until the second book in the trilogy. That's why they wouldn't've been (and weren't) in the first film.

Anyhow, does anyone know? Anyone heard anything about it? Will they be portrayed as same-sex lovers or will that aspect be removed from the films?

Yes, I heard they will be played by Matt Damon and Ben Affleck because they did such a convincing job portraying same sex angel lovers in the movie Dogma

WTF is wrong with this Crystal *****. Same sex is a lifestyle choice, and, while i'm not gay, i believe that people have the right to it, and it doesn't affect u, so STFU. That being said, i think that since there have been samesex marriages in many hollywood movies, they'll probably keep it in the golden compass.

Haven't heard a word. But then, I have heard the film has been modified to be "less offensive" to believers...I'm seeing it Tuesday.
