If you lose "friends" after you came out as an atheist, they are:
1) not really worthy of being friend material in the first place
2) never really your friend to begin with
Move on. They are not worth your breath.

maximum of my pals from different religions left a on a similar time as in the past (between one and 2 years i think of). a number of my Jewish contacts are nonetheless around/have returned, yet purely people who save on with Jewish questions and faraway from the main boards. So technically, i've got misplaced extra atheist contacts at present yet purely with the aid of fact extra of them have caught it out by the final 2 years. i don't have that many energetic theist contacts left to lose.

I've lost a few as well. If I were you I'd just move on, if they didn't respect your beliefs, they weren't real friends in the first place. Get to know some new friends who really care about you, not about what you believe.

Nope but I've been an atheist since before I'd even heard the term.
If they stop being your friends because of that then they aren't good people, they aren't good friends and not worth your time

How much of a friend were they really, if they dropped you like a bad habit?
In that thought, they must be crappy Christians, too, if they gave up on you and didn't try to "bring you back to the light".
Fuggeht about 'em.

I have not, but I think I've been lucky. Also, I don't think I would become friends with someone who needed everyone to be the same religion.

A frendship contingent on your religious beliefs (or lack thereof) is no friendship at all. You've lost no friends.

I don't think they were really friends then. It could be hard in some areas of the USA.

Not your friends. These people are just pathetic. Thankfully, people aren't that ignorant where I live.

No, I did not. But, I think what you should consider is this. Do you really want friends who are that superficial? Wouldn't you rather have friends who judge you for who you are?
