No, you are not supposed to believe.
Religion is a social component designed to subjegate and control the masses.
The best thing for you to do is drop it like a bad habit, and live the only life you have exactly the way you want, within the confines of the law.

' all the animals ' might cover dinosaurs. You can believe the bible and not be catholic. computers ,electric lights ,cars aphids, are not in the bible either. My religion does not have hell or the devil. Finding religion and recognizing your inner spiritualism you may find are two different things. In my religion G-d understands that we may find it hard to believe in Him at all times and allows for that. He knows you are not G-d you are a human being and its o.k .Some believe that our real purpose on earth is to worship G-d. And beyond that we try do do the best we can. I wouldn't worry too much about the apes.No matter what is the final truth it was His method . Big Bang, or Adam and Eve I believe it is of His hand and though I don't think too much about it any more I do understand your thoughts and where you are. These are things I may never know .Leaving it in G-d's hand for me is called having faith and trust. You are thinking and trying to find your way and that puts you 90% done. It's nice to have a religion on this earth but your relationship with G-d is what its all about. You are acceptable to Him.

The word "dinosaur" is a modern word, that wasn't used until 1842 (The Bible was written well before that)when classified as Dinosauria (Dinosaur) by an English palaeontologist Richard Owen. The word dinosaur was chosen to describe the beastly remains of huge reptiles found round the world because the Greek words δεινός (deinos meaning "terrible", "fearsome", or "formidable") and σαύρα (saura meaning "lizard" or "reptile"). Something those creatures surely were. Up until that point the word "dragon" was used to describe those oversized reptiles, and dragons are mentioned in the Bible. I believe I have a list somewhere that marks the verses mentioning dragons, if you would like me to look for it, email me. If you're going to stop believing in God, don't let it be over a lack of historical and scientific knowledge. I do recommend you talking to a Protestant friend or minister to see what you believe and don't. I know you were raised Catholic, but if you were to study your Bible closely you'll see many discrepancies from Bible to priest utterances.

Believe what you want! But... There are many ways you can educate yourself about religion and such issues. Halleys handbook bible! There are many books on evolution and what no! APES? ... go to Mardels Christian Bookstore or even Borders.
I have a question for you...
In this crazy world we live in don't you believe there is something greater in life which we cant even imagine? And if you are talking about Satan and Sin then I believe that you know about GOD.. you know right and wrong! I believe you believe, these skeptic issues you are having are acts of the devil.
I live and walk by faith and not by sight or feelings - 2 Corin 5:7
Therefore sin has no power over me - Romans 6:14
Satan has no power over me. I have been delivered from the power of darkness and translated into the Kingdom of God's dear son- Colossians 1:13
My best friend told me she thought she didn't believe anymore.. for many reasons! And I went out and researched high and low! Because the thought of someone that I love so much risking their eternal salvation for a doubt able feeling made me upset.
If there is anything else you want to know just let me know!

Your just on a path looking for truth and answers to life. That is a start. Don't confuse yourself along the way. Dinosaurs did exist but that does not violate the Genesis account of creation. God said he created different kinds and varieties with kinds.
In the Old Testament the talk about some huge strange looking creatures and many theologians believe these to be dinosaurs. They have in fact found human foot prints inside dinosaur footprint fossils.
Faith isn't blind. You just have to use your God given mind and really consider life and what it is all about.

Okay.. First of all Creationists do believe in dinosaurs. The Bible mentions dinosaurs in the book of Job. The book itself doesn't iterate "Look! Job found a dinosaur! He made it his pet!", but there were mentions of certain species of animals that were described to be like dinosaurs that have been discovered from the fossils dug up in our modern times.
Second of all, Christians do not believe that we "came" from apes. Neither do evolutionists. Evolutionists believe humans and monkeys came from a common ancestor, which, sure, had related characteristics of an ape.
Third of all, just because fossils have been dug up does not disprove "religion" in general -- or more specifically Creationism. Christians believe that fossils are a scientific discovery and the burial ground of what was consumed by The Flood. "The Flood" being when Noah's ark carried all of the common species of animals and his relatives. When the flood was over the ark sat upon Mt. Ararat, where its hardened earth remains still sit today. [Look up 'Noah's Ark Ararat' on Googe Images]
What you are experiencing now is a confusion of your past teachings of information. You need to find answers, facts, and compassion from friends. Get the facts and then decide your beliefs. It would be hard to understand God if you didn't know anything about Him, The Bible, Theology, or even Creationism. I, myself, am settled with my beliefs as a Christian. I'm not one of those hokie ones on TV like Joel Osteen, but I know my facts and I am humbled and comforted in my trust in my Savior, Jesus Christ.
I hope this helps some of your confusion. Don't feel that science, by the way, is an oppression to religions such as Catholicism and Christianity. In fact, science is a study of truths that support the Christian faith. Without science, faith is nonsense and unreasonable. It is just how you relate science to your beliefs, and it is essentially determined on what you believe. You are either believe in God or you don't, and your life's perspective, scientific beliefs, and opinions on earth's origin will reflect that.
Sorry for the long essay :-P I hope this helps you, or influences you in some way. By typing all of this stuff on my beliefs to help you essentially would mean that I care about you :-)
Peace.

Finding "religion" is not the same thing as finding "spirituality." Personally, I identify as an agnostic, which means that I seek knowledge. What I cannot prove, I cannot know.
However, I think that knowledge is different from faith, and that both are relative to each individual. Therefore, I believe that every person is entitled to seek out what is true for them.
With this in mind, it's important to know the Bible for what it is: inspiration, yes, but authored by men thousands of years ago for the main purpose of creating a quasi-legal code. I don't believe in killing your children for sassing you or stoning your wife for disobedience, but the basic tents of decency hold up.
Bottom line -- you have to trust in what you know - you KNOW -- to be true. That's all that's going to be truly valuable to you. And always, always, stay open. Stay open until it hurts. And then open up some more.

The dinosaurs were here before Christ walked the Earth. I was raised Roman Catholic & I believe that God created the Universe & Billions of years later, when God saw what man was doing to one another he sent his only son to us in the Virgin Mary.
There is a fine line between Science & religion, Then again, there's a difference in religion & Spirituality.
Everyone has a right to thier own convictions.

Research the Bible, each version, the authors, and the adjustments made to it throughout history (the when, why, how; relative to those times, governments, people). Why? Because I have no concrete answer for you but rather just a simple, loose idea: corruption is man-made, as is possibly the bible and its various interpretations. I have my own personal beliefs and I'm also not one to impose them onto others so I encourage you to do that research and determine for yourself.
Or you could do what I do and research all religions and philosophies as well. If one is the true and right one, there's going to be a huge fraction of us who'll be going to, u know.
I was once 'shopping' for a religion, the toss-up was between Christianity and Buddhism, and my husband then said "Let's be Christians just to be safe so we don't go to hell, Buddha wouldn't mind."

There are a lot of animals not in the Bible, so what does that prove? However, dinosaurs are mentioned in the OT as the giants.
You don't need religion, what good will that do for you? What you need is Christ. Do you really believe that you came from an ape? That's the crying shame about mama. Claiming that everything came from evolution vs. what The Word of God teaches.
"All things were made by him; and without him was not any thing made that was made." John 1:3
The Scientific Case Against Evolution

Up Date:
"So the dinsosaurs where on the earth before he made adam?" Of course. Why would you think otherwise? And yes, they were on the earth at the same time Adam and Eve were.

What is God created dinosaurs long before the time of Genesis? Long before there were humans that could record history? After the dinosaurs were dead and gone and far beneath the crust of the Earth, man appeared for whatever reason.
