How do you think Peter would respond to the Beliefs, Doctrines, and Teachings of the Catholic Church, especially those concerning him? Do you think Peter would Accept the Catholic Church as is (Concerning its Doctrines, Beliefs, and Teachings), or do you think he would Rebuke and Correct the Catholic Church?
Please keep in mind that this is not an invitation to Catholic Bash. We are adults here, so let us keep it Respectful.

Searcher - I agree. I think Peter would agree with Abstinence, humility, charity, caring, and compassion, but not because the Catholic Church teaches it. He'd agree with these things because Jesus taught them.

Augustine - May be Peter would ask, "Why do so many people put more emphasis on what our students said than on what Jesus and we taught, especially because some of these men have departed from our teachings and have presented you with another word? Why do so many of you not follow our example and 'Try every spirit to see if it is of God and Prove All Thing?' What we taught was not only in line with what Jesus taught, but our teachings were also in line with ALL the O.T. Scriptures. Therefore, should not these men's teachings also be inline with all O.T. and N.T. Scripture? I did not teach the office of the Pope, the Sinlessness of Mary, the Perpetual Virginity of Mary, that bread and wine can be transformed into Flesh and Blood, that you should make baptisms for the dead, and that the One True Church is in Rome. Therefore, if I, Peter, did not teach you these things then why do you so easily accept them as the words of the Apostles?"

First of all we seem to be forgetting; from the way the question is phrased, that the Roman Catholic Church is just part of the Institutional Catholic Church Formation.
The original inception of the very first Ecclesias resulting from that first Pentecost in Jerusalem, led as we know; to the founding of Ecclesiastic bodies that are now the three divisions of the Institutional Catholic Church...Roman, Orthodox and Oriental . From this three part root has sprung literally hundreds of offshoots , both Protestant and Catholic.
But I am getting long winded, it is the Roman Catholic Church you are asking the question concerning.
Bluntly St. Peter I believe would be extremely unhappy with the way his foundling church has developed.
First because I don't believe it was ever intended to become the Corporate Monster it has become; quite the opposite was intended I think. It seems to have been the plan to have small regional churches more or less independent, though loosely advised and controlled and joined together in the love of Christ.
Secondly there is no doubt in my mind that Peter would turn back-flips at some of the shenanigans the Roman church has pulled in the past 1700 or so years; she has made herself a whore politically more than once, had leadership during certain periods that has made Satan grin from ear to ear, taken privileges and rights that were never intended, elevated man conceived traditions to the same ; and sometimes even seeming to supersede Holy Gospel.
Now comes the disclaimer.......
Any organization man (in his sinful nature) has anything to do with is going to be full of worms, .the organizational church is no different, and most the same problems (and sometimes worse) exist in the other churches (including Protestant).
We CHRISTIANS all makeup the CATHOLIC (universal) Church; Catholic, schismatic Catholic and Protestant. Instead of supporting each other in prayer before the father ; we back-bite, back-stab and slander each other. Each small division beating it's chest and chanting, "I de man" ...
BULL !
Each little segment wants to believe that their faction has all the answers, when in truth they aren't even sure of the questions.
We shouldn't perhaps be concerned so much as to what St. Peter would think of the Roman church as what JESUS CHRIST would think of His Church ...... PERIOD.

Peter always struck me as the most intense of the 12 disciples. He was fervent in his beliefs and was ruled by his emotions.
I just don't think he would want to be put on any type of a pedestal. So, I can't see him wearing ceremonial garb and riding in a car where people thronged to see him speak.
However, I think he would like the humble aspects of the Roman Catholic church's teachings. Abstinence, humility, charity, caring, and compassion.

peter and the others founded the churches at rome, antioch, and alexandria. the bisbops of these churches are heirs to the apostles. their teachings have been handed down in an unbroken succession from the time of the apostles til now. its interesting that these three diocese are all part of different communions (catholic, orthodox and oriental), yet their teachings are almost identical.
also, if you read the writings of the direct successors to the apostles, youll find that their beliefs are in line with catholic teaching. these are people who knew and learned directly from the apostles.

Maybe you should read the writing of Ignatius of Antioch, who was a direct disciple of the Apostle John. Check out what he believed and was taught (you might not like what you read because it's VERY Catholic).
Also, if you'd like a website that further explains our beliefs WITH scriptural backing, go here: www.scripturecatholic.com.

WELL AS A CATHOLIC.. I THINK THE CATHOLIC BELIEFS ARE OK.. BUT THE ORGANIZATION THE CHURCH IS WRONG.. SO PETER MAYBE HE WOULD CHECK HOW THE CHURCH IS ORGANIZED? THE FACT..PETER WAS THE FIRST APOTLE WHO RECIEVED THE KEYS OF THE CHURCH.. AND RECIEVED THE LORD SHEEPS FOR CARING OF THEM... I BELIEVE PETER WOULD ASK HOW THE CHURCH MADE THE BIBLE? BECAUSE PETER DIDNT KNOW THE BIBLE THAT WE KNOW.. PETER WILL LOOK HOW THE CHURCH CHOSE THE BOOKS? ACCORDING TO SOME TRADITIONS.. HE WROTE SOME BOOKS TOO.. LIKE THE GOSPEL OF SAINT PETER.. ECT.. HE WOULD SAY.. WHY DIDNT YOU ACCEPT MY BOOKS?

He would agree with the Church seeing as how we have the promise of God that the Holy Spirit would never allow us to go astray.
He would definitely feel right at home in our Mass as well. Well, at least the TLM...

Quite frankly I doubt he would be completely happy with any denomination. For Catholicism specifically I think he would ask where many of the traditions came from. For instance him being a pope and papal infallibility. I really think if one of the apostles somehow appeared on Earth he would call the church to repentance and preach a sermon that would have us all on our knees begging Jesus for forgiveness.

i don't think he had any catholic or denomintional church in mind when he started in jerusalem... read in the bible how the early church was, for that is the true church Christ established.
there is too much non-biblical doctrine in today's churches, some are reasonable and some just cause discord and aren't necessary.
