We put a new battery and a new alternator in the car but the tester shows the battery is not charging. The car starts but doesnt charge...Any ideas that might cause this problem??

Check the maxi-fuse in the underhood fuse block...175 amp, iirc, and have seen them blow before...it doesn't look like a normal fuse, you'll need a test light or dvom to see if you have power on both sides.

See if it has battery voltage at the large cable that mounted on the alternator with a nut.If not,by the side of the fuse block under the hood,under the plastic cover which slide up,there is a fuse link,should have battery voltage at both sides where it is mounted on with the large nuts.

you also need to replace the 3 wire plug on the alt a lot of times they lose contact. also check continuity in the power wire from the alt to the batt. I don't think the 01has an external regulator

these cars have an external voltage regulator, I believe it is on the passenger side behind the headlamp
