In the November 13, 1995 issue of Christianity Today, page 31, we read, "Questions about the authority of Scripture had been troubling the young preacher (Billy Graham) for weeks. Knowing that the matter must be settled in his mind if he ever hoped to preach with authority and power, he wrestled with his doubts until he was able to pray; 'Oh God, I cannot prove certain things. I cannot answer some of the questions my friends are asking. [Yet, here and now I am ready to accept the Bible] by faith as the Word of God.'"

Has there ever been good news for evidence of the bible?

You may find in your life that your religion is not the answer. I did. I think religion sells rewards in a proposed afterlife, but much of what is discussed is based on flawed manuscripts or personal opinion. Humans love mystery. So we gravitate towards things that sound like we have a mysterious being watching over us. If you look at the situation in a practical way, there are huge flaws in biblical religions. People who honestly truly read these books have to ignore some of the content (like Deutronomy) or risk going to jail in society.
Ask yourself this, If you look at a book and can pick it apart in so many pieces, what kind of leap would it be to throw out the whole thing all together and still be a great person? Still do great for society, still donate some or most of your income to causes of the poor. I hate to give any preference to any religion, but actually buddhism has a more involved and consistent mindfulness about it than say Christianity. Buddhism is about mindfulness, about compassion.
Don't forget that the bible as we know it was compiled, in a political manner in 300 by Constantine. There are also huge mis translations from the original greek text. I suggest you read "Misquoting Jesus: The story of who changed the bible and why" This is a born again bible scholar who went from total believer, and investigated it all beyond the limits, and then realized it was too flawed to accept anymore and that it is essentially made up.
But hey, your religion might tell you that somehow 'satan' is working through me to destroy your faith. You could believe that. Or you might want to consider that I'm just a guy who wants people to really read and understand something and practice reasoning. Faith is actually dangerous. Sam Harris the author will tell you that we don't accept things on faith in any area of our lives, we accept facts and reasoning, but somehow religion gets a pass. Why? Good luck.

This just shows that the best and the worst of us have questions about God's word (among a whole lot of other Stuff, too) and that each one must decide and take the step of faith as to whether one will believe God Or Not.

Incidently, Billy Grahams original partner Charles Templeton never did resolve for himself the same questions and was a very unhappy man until his death. You can read about him(Templeton) in Lee Strobels book 'The Case for Christ'.

I don't quite get it. In 1995 Billy Graham was about 77 years old - how does the quote then refer to him as the young preacher?

It is not bad news for religions, but good news for Billy Graham

No, it's not bad news for religions based on the Bible. It shows that Christians are human and are incapable of knowing everything. We can admit our shortcomings, but that doesn't lessen our faith.
Anyone who claims to know everything knows nothing about anything.
I don't know everything, I don't have all the answers, but I know the One who does. I also have the ability to do the research to help find the answers for people.

Is Billy Graham the standard we should use for doctrine?

I'm not sure why it would be - facts, doubts, and reality have never had much effect on people's willingness to believe tripe that makes them feel good.
