Nothing. Unless it turns out that we're wrong. Then we burn in hell. Although, that's only if Christianity is true. If Hinduism ends up being the truth of reality, then we get reincarnated as insects or something. But so would all the Christians and Jews and Muslims for not following the Hindu rules.

Every religion claims that you have to follow its rules or else something bad will happen. People always makes statements about how atheists will be in trouble if religion turns out to be true. But really, if any religion is true, then everyone of all religions other than the one true one will also be punished right along side the atheists.

You know what I mean? Christians are always telling atheists that they will go to hell. But if Christianity really is true, then Jews, Muslims, Hindus, Buddhists, and anyone else that doesn't "have Jesus in their heart" will all be sent to hell.

there is no price, not for disbelief....honestly, if Jesus and god really were that concerned with belief...the bible would be MUCH MUCH more believable, especially sinse the god it speaks of was all loving and all knowing, and capable of complete control and eternal knowledge, he would definitely have givin us better instructions and better examples.....the bible is to full of hypocritical examples of how god was to be feared and how he was not as all loving as they would allow you to think...not to mention, his followers don't even know exactly what they believe and think, look at all the slightly dif, branches of christianity, will those people pay to? or are thier beleifs just close enough to god's truth that it is acceptable? cause if the babtists are right, the catholics, penicostals, and the mormons and alla the 500 others better start thinking of the price they will have to pay! or maybe the all loving god of the bible will just flood the earth and the non christians away again....surely an all loving and knowing god wouldnt do such a thing??? oh, wait, no. i forgot, thats why he created the rainbow, to remind us he will never do such a nasty thing again....what a load of ****.

PRICE!?
No price at all - it cost me nothing.
Are you thinking it may have cost relationships or something?
Again - no.
Having said that, we're pretty lucky in Australia - religion doesn't control our lives like it does USians.
Religion is a quaint little thing some people do on Sundays when I'm doing other stuff that I always LIKE doing.

Your question should have been: What are the benefits?
1. FREEDOM.
2. FREEDOM.
3. FREEDOM.

I found the answer "eternal damnation" to be hilarious. But lets look at this way. If there is truly a being who will judge me simply because I'm living my life how I want...then so be it.

I'd rather live 30 years of happiness and pay the price of eternal damnation. If there is a god, he can't take what I've experienced away... I've lived my life how I want, when I want and I'll continue to do so. So the price an atheist pays is well worth the hefty price tag if there is truly any at all in the end.

lack of belief

I have to endure being referred to as immoral, criminal, the cause of all the worlds problems even though I know that I (and all the atheists I know) am a good person.

I'm surprised at all the "eternal damnation" people. Seriously - you think its a god like attribute to allow people to be punished for all eternity for not believing in the existance of said diety?

firstly - thank you for validating my atheism yet again - I would never want to think such a thing was acceptable (infinite punishment for finite crimes) and secondly you don't make your god seems so great - sounds a bit.....welll.....low on the old self esteem

interesting question. i'm going to go ahead and assume your christian.
According to pascals wager either
we believe and god exists :we get and eternal reward
if he doesn't: we have missed a few pleasures but edified ourselves through prayer
or
we do not believe and god exists: we get eternal damnation
or he doesn't and : we're ok and we have had some good times.
it's called a WAGER b/c anyone who is smart can see which is the best bet. :)
however, i don't think that not being christian is going to make me go to hell. i do not follow any christian dogma or follow any organized religion but, i do try to treat people as good as possible, lead a life i feel is right, respect everyone, and just be a good person in general. if at the end of my life i have lived this way and god does exist, i don't think he'd send me to the pits of hell for not reading the bible.

Being harassed by family members on occasion. Aside from that, there is no price.

And which "belief" are you referring?

Atheists do not have to believe anything. All they have to do is to disbelieve one thing.....gods.

And the cost of that disbelief is free, with the returns being freedom from dogma.

Eventually, it's the same price we all pay: Life.

It's not a belief. It's a lack of belief in a diety. There is no price. It's free as well as freeing.
