Im 17 yrrs old and I have hairy arms. The hairs are about an inch+ long and they're very thick. I trimmed them a while ago, and I like the way they look! Would it be wierd to keep trimming them, and if I do, will they only get longer and thicker? Girls, do you have any preferences as to the hairyness of arms, or at least how long the hairs are?

and also i use an electric razor w/ one of those trimming things on it, so when i finish trimming the hairs are about pretty short but still noticeable up close fyi

my wife has had no complaints about my "manscaping" habits. i keep my armpits and 'crime scene' neatly trimmed and i'm sure it beats that rat nest that grows naturally!

No it is not weird at all. Look clean cut and groomed. Trimming arm hair might be tricky, though. Invest in an electric hair trimming razor with graduated shields so you cut to uniform lengths. Get these at K-Mart, Wal-Mart, etc. Not expensive at about $12 each for the kit.
Consider electrolysis or waxing if you truly are in the caveman league.
Women shave legs and pits with regularity so guys should control body hair too. Yes it may grow out heavier, but don't go hairy wild avoiding it. Keep up with the human race and don't descend into knuckle-walking.

I suppose some people might think it's wierd, since guys don't usually trim their arm hairs, but if you like the way it looks trimmed, do it. Cutting it will not make it grow longer or thicker, since hair grows from the folllicle beneath the skin. Most guys I've ever known do not have completely smooth, hairless arms. It's a sign of masculinity to have hairy arms, chests and legs, although some males are hairier than others. I don't think girls are put off by hairy guys.

YESSS! Wow, I really can't stand unnecessary hair, and I'm sooo glad to know that here's a normal teen guy who actually cares about this. To me, it seems like some guys really don't care .. it especially bugs me bcuz that presents a bias bcuz women r definitely expected 2 not be hairy. The same way a guy would get creeped out if a lady was very hairy, girls know that most guys keep their armpit hair but we can sometimes be just as disgusted but most of us won't say anything about it bcuz it's up to you really. It's different from facial hair, lots of ppl wud tell their guy if he's letting himself get too scruffy face-wise .. but who kisses armpits? It's really ultimately up to you what you do in that department. I think that especially when it's warm and guys start wearing less clothes, and then I have to see the pits, it would be nice if it didn't look so hairy.

If all you're doing is trimming (as in making shorter) than by all means there is nothing wrong with that. Now if you're shaving (taking all of the hair away) thats "different" yes and could eventually lead to the hair getting thicker and longer

it's not weird. I think most girls like NON EXTREMEMLY HAIRY ARMS (and i go to an all girls school). they probably will grow back thicker and longer it's just like head hair so you have to truely decide if you're going to keep it up. My prefrence is that if the hair scratches, irritates, and stabs me, it's too long...but some girls are creeped out by naked arms. i'm 16 and i feel that if you like the way you looked, it's all good, keep doing it if it makes you feel good.

That's like shaving. And only gay guys shave. Don't be ashamed of who you are. It's you! If you don't think hairy arms are your type, sure keep trimming but don't tell anyone. SHHH!

I do not mind hair on arms...
but if it is thick and black I do.
If you like to trim it and it looks good... trim away!
Or you could apply a hair lightening cream to lighten
arm hair. You will still have the hair, just lighter so it
appears less.
Good luck!

It's not common, but not too weird. Swimmers shave their arms and legs, but if you're not a swimmer, it seems a bit odd.
Hey, if it helps you out, keep trimming. If it looks good, who's going to care?

I think its normal. I dont get why it would be weird for you to trim it. Its personal hygien.
Besides, guys with overly hairy armpits are turnoffs.
So I give you praise that you do that.

The answer is yes, Plus it will get thicker and grow faster. Eventually it will start bugging you if you keep trimming it.
