Sounds like your friend needs a new husband. He cares more for his furniture, than the cat, and that should never be the case.
Tiny holes in the furniture.......BIG DEAL!
-=would never declaw my cat, front or back=-

I'd declaw him! This is a very painful surgery and if those two cats ever get out and a dog were to go after them they would not be able to defend them selves! I don't think they could have made tiny hole with their hind feet. I feel sorry for your friend and her 2 sweet cats.

Let him know that declawing is like cutting off the first joints of the fingers or toes and can really screw up a cats psyche and cause mental problems and extreme. Who cares about tiny holes in stupid furniture? That man is sick, cruel, and evil and that cat would have been better off being rehomed rather than declawed.

NO. Declawing is cruel. The vet we use for our cats doesn't even do this procedure.
If that cat ever gets outside, it has absolutely no way to defend or protect itself. Your friend's husband is a dumbass.

No i would not have done this. A cats claws are like our finger nails. Its a very painfull procedure. Just imagine if you had all of your finger nails taken off. It would hurt alot. Also the cat will now have trouble climbing outside and defending itself from other cats. Your friends husband is mean and heartless to.

I don't see the purpose of rear declawing. It's the front claws that destroy the furniture. I have one cat that is front declawed and he was like that when I got him.

My cat's vet hates to dewclaw, but I had to have it done front feet only in order to keep my apt. her little feet hurt her. She cried so much. I cried with her. I would either find a new home for my cats or find a new home for the husband, before I'd ever make my cat go through that again for the back feet.

Her husband sounds like a domineering creep! I know people who will let a poor little cat freeze to death before letting the cat inside.
To tell you the truth I like animals more than humans! That Vet should loose their license to practice!

Guess your friend has never had an itch he couldn't scratch.
He is heartless and the vet is a jerk. I wish they would outlaw declawing in this country as it is illegal in MANY countries worldwide.
