So, since I'm a baby Heathen I figured I'd ask... where did you get your tools for ritual? IE: Drinking horns, statues, hammers, bowls, jewelry if you wear it, etc... Or, did you make them yourself? How? Where did you get the materials?

:) Thanks!

http://www.hideandfur.com/inventory/2213.html I got this site recommended by two heathens for horns and I just bought mine here. Good prices.
Ok I can't find the jewlery website. Thrudheim gave a good one once, but I can't find it in the answers. You can type in Asatru Jewlery, or Thors Hammer Necklaces and get a TON of hits. I got my Mjolinir at ebay for ten bucks. LOL Until I can get the 75 buck one I want.

Edit: Aha found it http://www.viking-shield.com/

http://www.viking-shield.com/statues1.html these prices are about what I have seen them go for. If some on has cheaper, please let me know.
I have two offering bowls. One a green ceramic bowl that I also keep apples in for my wights and I have a wooden one that is also used for the wights. I have been known to use either or both for salad or mashed potatoes as well. I'm practical. LOL The green one I got from my dad when I got married and the wooden one I bought at walmart for 6 bucks. I'll put some runes on it when I get some time. You can buy a hammer at Home Depot and carve what you want on it.
For the record you don't have to have any of this stuff. My best "rituals" have been me, a bottle of hard cider and the gods. I offer my first and last drink, sacrifice it over a tree and chat. No tools required.

Oh and Amazon.com is where I get my books. Hehe

My son bought my Thors Hammer necklace for me. My husband bought the runes made from oak. I am making my own blot bowl out of clay (Fimo Clay is the best I've found so far). I haven't obtained a drinking horn yet, but I'm hoping to do that soon. The hammer I will probably make myself. Between my father being a carpenter and my husband building all the furniture we have in the house, I think I should be able to get this done with just some verbal instructions from them lol

My son says he got the necklace from Azure Green at www.azuregreen.com My husband says he bought the runes from a Heathen that lives about an hour south of us. He says he just got lucky when he found them.

Good luck. And if you find a good place for the drinking horns, let me know lol =)

The best tools are handmade or hand worked. Until then, find tools wherever you can - thrift stores, occult shops, on-line, EBay, Amazon.com (buy from the used section - saves money), Renn fairs, etc. Make a list in your mind and watch for opportunities. Tools don't have to be expensive or bought all at once. A nice cup will do until you get a horn, etc.

My Thor's Hammer was purchased at www.dragonst.com (tell them Barbara from the mountains sent you). Also I've gotten hammers at Renn Fairs and occult shops and on-line.

My hammer was purchased on E-Bay, a hand-made brass hammer. I sanded and polished and polished until it started shining. I then stripped the handle, cut off part of it and then wood burned symbols in the wood and sealed it.

The oath ring for the Kindred was from a tree that fell on my property in a huge storm. I chipped, chiseled and carved until I had a ring and kept chipping. I then hand sanded and wood burned and carved the futhark, the Kindred bind-rune around the ring. On the inside I burned oak leaves and acorns (our Kindred symbols).

The runes, I hand cut from a branch, carved and sanded and then carved the rune into each piece. I also purchased a pewter set off EBay (they actually work fairly well for me and are thin enough for travel).

The harrow (altar) was an old ammo box I sanded, painted and carved on.

Drinking horns - cleaned, sanded, carved and hand burned by me.

Most of my ritual tools I've made myself -- craft stores are definitely a Pagan's best friend. Some I've found at thrift shops. But my favorite place to find ritual tools is at a Pagan festival such as Sirius Rising or Starwood. These are often hand-made for Pagans, by Pagans. And, festivals are really fun places to be, anyway. They're like big Pagan flea-markets!

I didn't purchase any of mine. Most of them were either traded for or were around my parents home (Not kidding) My Father was and still is into Norse research and we did historical reenactment for 25 years. Drinking horns abound in the house as do the hammers and the Thor's hammers. Father made some in copper and iron and we traded for some -- both bronze and amber (my favorite is my amber one though my original is white bronze).
My knives aren't used for just rituals. I use them for everything from cooking to gathering and I traded embroidered tunics and wood-burned boxes for them. They're a part of me, just as my bowls are; they're wood-burned as well. I put a peice of myself into every utensil I make but I suppose every artist does the same thing, a weaver does it with cloth, I do it with wood.
You're just starting out, my dearest child and you'll find your Way. Start where you feel most comfortable and work form there. Contact us if you want (you can write if you wish) or not. Just follow your gut. That'll keep you safe. Stay safe, Dearest. Blessings and Happy Solstice

Actually, although Worthless Recruit was probably being sarcastic, some of the places he suggested are actually good. If you are doing something that would be "crafty", like Yule decorations or the like, going to someplace like Hobby Lobby or the like would be a great place to start.

I use dried or artificial flowers and vine all the time for ritual decorations as I have hay fever and cannot use many fresh flowers.

I would also recommend shops that sell rocks as they can sometimes have very interesting things like a morter/pestle set carved from marble, or images that suggest one of the Gods to you.

My ritual hammer I had made at a local renaissance festival, also where I purchased one or two other items. I also get things at a local occult supply shop and a few sites on-line that have shown to have quality merchandise.

I make my own "ritual tools." But Tarot Cards I buy at Half Price Books, or at the local Occult Bookstore. I also like Statues, and buy them at http://www.sacredsource.com/
