I believe God allows bad things to happen for a number of reasons. God COULD stop all of it, but He doesn't. First of all, if He stopped all bad things, we would no longer have free will and God wants us to have free will. Sometimes He also allows things to happen to Christians to either test their faith, build their faith, or create some other outcome for good.
"All things work together for good for those who love God"
I was abused when I was younger. Did it stink? YEAH! However, that has caused me to be a more compassionate person. My sister who was not abused, is very self centered and cynical. I know God used that pain to help me become who I am today and I like myself today. I don't condone or support child abuse and neither does God, but He can take it and make it something good if we let Him.
My daughter has been sick for over a year and we can't seem to fix it. I do not have a clue what God is doing with this, but I have to trust that HE will make it into something good. It is what is helping me get through it. When I feel I can't handle it anymore, God allows me a break from the stress (emotional rest and time to recover before it gets bad again) I can see that God is still with me, but it is very hard. I do know that God loves me and whatever He is doing will be of benefit to someone. (hopefully it will benefit my daughter)
EDIT: not everything is God's will. If God's will were being followed there would be no pain or sin.... HOWEVER God can take any situation and make good come from it.

God made the devil. The devil was put on this earth so that we could make a choice. The choice between good and evil. I never have to remind myself that God is wonderful. I mean we go through things in life because we allow ourselves to but just when you feel all hope is lost God steps in . There is a song that says he may not come when you want him but hes right on time. He is. If God interviened everytime we got into something how would we learn and know not to repeat the same thing over again. Just think of all the wonderful things God has done for you. When I am having a bad day or moment in life I pray and ask the Lord what to do. There is a song that I sing "When I look around and begin to think things over all of my good days out weight my bad days I won't complain. The Lords been good to me better than this old world could ever be so I thank you Lord, I won't complain.

God's will comes in two varieties:
Express will ... God desires that all be saved, and come to the knowledge of his truth.
Permissive will ... because God didn't create a race of robots, he allows us to make independent judgments and exercise our own personal free will.
Grace serves to enlighten and empower us, so that we might seek out and perceive God's truth, and make the right choices ... with help from the authentic and universal church that Jesus personally founded and left behind on the earth ... for the purpose of leading all to salvation in him.
God has always been the master of making great things out of nothing at all, making saints out of the most heinous sinners, and bringing about good from evil, while Satan remains the adversary, and the destroyer ... even in his defeat.
We won't know exactly how or why God does what he does, until Judgment Day.
See you there.

If I were to blame everything that goes wrong in my life on God oranyone else for that matter, I would be an angry mofo. **** happens if you dont deal with it as your own problem and blame others all is lost. P.S. I am Agnostic which means I believe there could be a God but I dont feel I have the right to decide which religion or God is the true one. Although I know there is no Allah, no God would want murder or offer virgins to someone who murders, only ignorat humans would come up with some BS like that. Radical Muslims are IDIOTS.

If you believe, then you believe God created all, including the idea of satan. Things we consider bad are not always evil. Some things are necessary but scary or sad. Some things are nature, which can be painful and disruptive. The person you see as cold and unfeeling because he doesn't cry in the face of adversity but carries out what needs to be done is necessary to make up for those who are consumed with grief. Faith is trust beyond understanding and reason.

It is difficult for us mortals to accept the fact that we determine our own future. Sometimes hardship is the only way we can grow. W/O darkness we would not know light. W/O evil we would not know goodness. If we did not have to work to achieve
a meaningful and rewarding life then we would not appreciate it once we were there and it would be chucked to the wind.
God is good no doubt. Satan is just the representation of the insistent self. Light vs. darkness Good vs. bad Up vs. down
Contrast is a necessary and constant reality for our world.
Yes God is in heaven but you have free will. Make the best of what you have.

I think all of us struggle to some extent when we try to figure out why bad things happen to good people. We certainly don't have all the answers, and according to what I was taught, we aren't supposed to know in this life, what God's purposes are. I've been angry with God also, but my Christian friends say it's okay to angry with him. You are not weak, delusional, or any thing like that. You are just like everyone else who has searched for answers that are not readily available.

We live in a sin cursed world, inhabited by sinful, wicked people. So much of the evils of this world are blamed on Satan, when we seem to do fine just by ourselves.
God allows both good and evil to exist for a time, for His own purposes. The hope we have is that one day sin, death and the evil one will be no more and we will rest in the peace of Christ.

I have been a Christian for many, many years and I have learned that God allows hard things in our lives because it is during these times that we grow and learn and in the end become better and stronger for it. In everything there is always something to thank Him for. If you are faithful to do this, I promise that your faith will grow and you will see God working in your life in ways that will astound you. You will look back at a situation and see it with clarity. Satan is alive and well and roams the earth looking to destroy Christians. He doesn't bother with those that deny Christ because he knows they are already lost. He tests the Christians. Remember the story of Job and how he lost everything he had, but in the end God restored everything Job lost and multiplied it. The greatest feat that satan has ever mastered was to make others doubt his existence. God doesn't make bad things happen, but yes, He does allow them to happen. Often we are tested to see if we will continue to follow Him in the face of adversity, but always...ALWAYS, when we stand strong in our faith, He is faithful to see us through our trials and tribulation and work the situation for our good! Keep the faith!
And by the way, Merry Christmas!

God is never the evil one. when you are experiencing those things, He's trying to show you that you need to trust Him and not get angry. Being angry make Satan happy instead. So whenever you get mad, don't blame God. He's the one helping you out of the mess if you just believe in Him and trust Him
