If won't make that big of a difference either way. If you consume it before lifting, the exercise you get while lifting will slow down the digestion and absorption of the consumed beverage. If you consume it afterwards, it will digest and absorb faster since your parasympathetic system will be enhanced after the exercise. Either way, it doesn't matter (shortly before or shortly after) because protein damage is repaired in a time scale of hours to days. But you will probably be more comfortable if you consume it afterwards.

depending on your supplement budget both. pre workout protein helps to reduce the catabolic effects of resistance training. with increased levels of amino acids in plasma less muscle proteins will be catabolized during high intensity training sessions. protein consumed post workout will jump start the recovery process. if you can only use it once then post workout would be the choice.

creatine goes before your workout, shakes and protien go after lifting as your body goes into a protien defficiency after working out in what is called recovery
