Presents. That's what it was in the beginning, That's what it is now.
Make it about Jesus being a gift from heavenly father, sure! But even then it's still about presents.

The original reason for the season - the season of Yule!
The solstice, 12 days and 12 nights of celebrating * Decorations * a tree inside the house * candles lit all night (or lights) * exchanging gifts * mistletoe * toasting each other * feasting * gathering family together * burning a Yule log * celebrating a savior's birthday on the 25th * a Yule wreath * exchanging good wishes to your neighbors
all of those things are pagan in origin.

Me too!
I love using this time to show God's love to people by giving them gifts, and spending a little extra time with people and strangers.
It's the one day when I think everyone regardless of religion or back ground can pull their head out, and see that they part of something so much grander than merely their tiny existence.

For me this is the Christmas season, and you can't even say it without saying the reason--Christ. As in Jesus Christ, the perfect gift given to the human race.

Jesus is truly the reason for the season. If Jesus had not been born men would be lost and on their way to hell.
