No. It only reads Blu-ray discs. High-def discs are on xbox 360.

PS3 has a Blu-ray player. Therefore it reads and plays Blu-ray movies and games. It does not play or read HD-DVDs, but it does read/play DVDs. Blu-Ray and HD-DVD are high definition, some movies come on one platform, and some on the other while some come on both, they have same video quality. Blu-ray is a little cheaper, but I believe HD-DVD has more movies out. So to answer your question, yes the PS3 (20, 40, 60 & 80GB models) play High-Def movies, but only ones on Blu-Ray disks.

Blue Ray Disc is high def, but I dont believe it will read discs labeled HD DVD.We want HD DVD to go away, so our Blue Ray is dominant or it will be useless to us.
