I'd think you'd get more respect for being a bigger person.. Might help in the long run if you make a career out of it. Just like civilian life, the bigger you are.. The more respect you get.. In reality, it doesn't really matter and you might actually have the advantage by being smaller.. This is gun warfare not hand to hand combat.. A bigger person is a bigger target.. And anybody can handle a m16...

BTW- Ace the PT test.. And you will get your respect.. I'm 5'7 150 and nobody would mess with me.. PT perfection!! lol..

I think as long as you have respect for others in the military, you can be very well respected too. Take a look at some of the Drill Instructors at MCRD San Diego, there are a few that are shorter than me and I'm only 5'5". It all just depends on your attitude. If you have an authoritative attitude while still having respect for those around you and even below you, you will gain a lot of respect.

No you do not have to be big. Size does not earn you respect.

I was 5' 5 1/2" and 145 lbs. And I had a 75 man platoon.

And when I retired I was the operations Sergeant in an AIT training company. I believe I was well respected by most all my troops.

You dont need to be big at all. I'm 5'4" and weigh about 120 (it helps that i'm female though). If anything it gets you lots of respect, being half the size and doing the same amount of work.
However you might want to check, the www.goarmy.com website for the longest time showed a "little" girl in all the basic training video's, its corny to say, but it really inspired me to enlist.
Good Luck!

I am 5'7 165 Marine which is small. I was a E4 squad leader. Size does not matter as long as you can pull your weight. You gain respect by your actions and the way you carry yourself not your size. Officers are all sizes but the best ones are the ones who get to know there men and gain there respect instead of demanding it.

NO you dont have to be big. you need values. I had a Drill Sergeant 5'0 130 the most and everybody respected. He did push ups with us every where and could run with the wind.

the militia kit is made by inner maximum companies. What you're bearing on is fairly commercial. yet there is one significant flaw on your thought. the militia easily kills the undesirable human beings, as a company i does no longer choose my pepsi logo the final component a united states of america sees previously it gets bombed or shot to hell. besides i choose them to purchase it for the duration of reconstruction.

well my mom was a mp in the army she is 5ft2 and 3/4ths and she said its the way you hold yourself you have to at all times hold your shoulders back head held high and don't show any weakness (she installed all of this into us at an early age) bc you hold your head up high you show you have confidence that you don't have you tail between your legs that you respect yourself
