Okay..I had this up on my mind, and thought about it.

Now each religion teaches things like being good to one another, loving your loved ones, tolerance, and all that good stuff. Even if you don't have a religion, like atheists, arent those still the basic ethics of life? There are 6 Billion (6,000,000,000) people on this planet. You Can't make/force all 6 billion believe in the same thing you do right? Forcing people to believe in something, is no better than what the Fascists did.

Now anywhere i go from a Christian its "if you don't believe in god, you will go to hell". First of all, thats ignorant. Second, if the person you are saying this doesn't believe in god in the first place, why bother threatening him/her with Hell? - (Which is another thing he/she doesn't believe in"

From an atheist, its always "mumbo jumbo, fairy tale". That's also ignorant to where both parties are insulting one's belief.

I think religion should be between God and You

death is going to happen to all of us, so why spend/waste our lives hating and forcing, when you should be enjoying it?

I think there are two kinds of people in this world. Good and Bad. Or Smart and Stupid. And most of the people are hippocrates example: go to church, talk about love, tolerance, and then come to the real world and Insult, Sin and Disrespect Other's beliefs.

Who agrees?

WOW! Someone who has some common sense. Someone who is saying pretty much what I have been trying to say. I know myself I have insulted a few people but people can sometimes get to you but everyone should have the beliefs that they have but don't try to force it upon someone else and if they choose some other religion don't put them down. You don't need church or a book telling you what to believe. If you have god you have your religion some don't believe in him and some do that is your choice and you should not put someone else down because they don't believe the same. I personally don't believe in what the bible says or what they preach in Church but I do like to learn and expand my mind and see what my friends say that do go to church. There is nothing wrong with believing in god but when you start forcing it on other people that's when your wrong! I am sure you got crap from people about this but I believe you are doing a good thing here and I believe you are right. Good luck and Thanks!

I don't believe that religion is the problem, people are. If you read the religious texts of many different places and faiths, you will see that they all promote "good living" as you said. Religion, in my opinion might have been created by man, but i think originally it was meany to keep peace between people and ensure that everyone was respectful and loving to one another. But mankind is a different story, it is human nature to **** things up for money, power, and material things. That is when the church started selling forgiveness to the highest bidder, stealing property, and conducting itself as a political authority since the days of surfs and kings. It is human nature that somehow twisted the bilble as they saw fit to legitimize horrible things like the slaughter of Native Americans, slavery, and the mal-treatment of women. The same thing is happening again with homosexuals. It human nature to abuse the power that one is given, and unfortunately- the church has been smart in ensuring it's permanent place in powerful positions. The only problem is that religious men don't run the church anymore, rich men do. Religion and politics are slowly merging again and that is dangerous, there was a seperation of church and state for a good reason. Now we can make laws based on one group's interpretation of the bible, we can exlude gays from having the same rights as others and we can go to war with people because they believe different. All religions are right and all religions are wrong. Bible, Qur' an, Torah, same story different book.

I pretty much agree that we should strive to be courteous; to inform but not insult, although for many (not you I don't think) they are the same thing.

Respect is something that should be earned. "Tolerance" is not the same as "respect", and means that we can all agree to disagree. We of course respect another person's right to his or her own opinion but we have no obligation to respect that opinion.

To quote H.L. Mencken: "I respect a man's religious opinion to the degree and the extent that I respect his opinion that his wife is beautiful and his children smart."

I think everyone should just leave each other alone and let thm believe what they want. But sadly as long as the church is still there thats impossible.
