Obviously he's a beagle mix so don't say that but I've been trying to figure out what else. He looks like some other kind of hound, probably not something exotic like a poodle or anything... And he came from Kentucky and seems like he was probably a hunting dog. So any suggestions or websites that list different hounds would be awesome. He's a bit big for a beagle weighing in at 35 pounds and is like... 16 inches tall? Maybe a little more. And his chest and body is more square, his snout is longer, and he's got longer legs.

If you need any pictures with different views please let me know, although mostly I'm just looking for clues on where to look for his backround.

I thought they all sounded reasonable so I'm putting it to vote.

Hard to say because Judge looks so.....Beagle. I had a dog like that too - she looked like an oversized border collie. Obviously not purebred but the border collie characteristics hid all the other clues. We always guessed retriever of some kind but never really knew.

It's possible Judge is 100% beagle and is just bigger than the standard - I have a golden that is bigger than standard. The other possibility is foxhound which is bigger but otherwise looks beagle-like.

For sure he is mostly Beagle. Like you say he has a longer snout then my Snoopy. This could mean terrier or collie mix. Snoopy is pure bred and a mutant. His almost 20" tall and is about 35 lbs. For a little comic relief take a look at this.

He is the clown of the family.

Tree hound?

LOL! What a great dog! I love that first picture because he looks so shifty eyed - like he's saying "what are YOU looking at?"

I'm not sure what else is in him. Beagles come in the 13 inch and 15 inch sizes. Maybe he's a BIG 15inch beagle and his grandma had an affair with a hound-beagle mix?

Honestly I don't think he is mixed with anything. He is probably a purebred beagle. I've seen 65 pound purebred beagles with papers. It is just bad breeding that causes the large size. Your doggie seems a little overweight too so that might be why he is a little big for a beagle.

I agree with you that it's some kind of hound mixed in with the beagle. I was thinking he is kind of basset hound like, which somebody else already said.

He's very adorable. I've always wanted a beagle, but it's hard to find one that's not a howler! And I've afraid they might drive me crazy. Maybe someday.

There's a shot of him there where you can see how long in the face he is--I'd say Beagle/Foxhound mix. He looks like he's got a lot of personality!

he just looks like a poorly bred beagle, but purebred, they can be up to 15in so 16 or 17 inches wouldnt be a stretch, he may just come from a cruddy byb that has larger beagles with narrow faces.... looks like a purebred to me.
