Ancient Sumerian religion, with the Elder Gods and Ancient Ones, as outlined in the Simon Necronomicon.

Why are you voting me down for the simple, factual truth? I don't follow the ancient Sumerian religion; why does it bother you that I didn't lie and say [insert religion here] was first?

Unknown. Religion showed up before written record.

It was Polytheistic, and most likely delt with reverence of the Sun, as this characteristic is found in all early civilization.

Hinduism is the oldest religion still practiced today, but not the first religion.

There was no "first religion". As soon as human beings developed language and were able to communicate with each other, they most probably created stories to explain what they did not understand and feared in their lives (particularly death which is most likely the source of the belief in god). In the effort, then, to appease the deities whom they had invented, they made sacrifices and produced rituals. As humans evolved intellectually, their religious practices became more sophisticated, until polytheism eventually succumbed to monotheism in Western cultures, and the Judeo-Christian and Muslim religions established themselves as the Western world's predominant faiths.

Hinduism is the oldest known religion, but there are most assuredly other unrecorded religions that predate it.

In the beginning, God talked to Adam and Eve. The
Jews believed in God but would not accept that the
Jesus who came to earth was God's son. The gospel
was taken to the Gentiles (Christians) later.
