i have a yorkie mix she is the sweetest dog and doesnt mind being in her crate and she doesnt bark much at all. I'd say get a Yorkie or just something mixed with a Yorkie.

Well, I doubt very much that you will find a dog that doesn't bark - all dogs bark unless they have had their vocal cords removed, or have been mute from birth. Also, dogs are pack animals and love to be with their people, so leaving them home alone "alot" isn't very good for them either. Not sure what you mean by "alot", but I feel anything over 4 hours is too much for a dog to be left alone. So considering these two things, I think the best dog for you at this time would be a stuffed one, until you have more time to spend with one. Sorry, I know this isn't what you wanted to hear, but dogs take a lot of time, money, and responsibility.

the problem here is "ALL DAY" while at school.
the dog needs to be trained on a bathroom schedule as well as a feeding, walk, and bedtime schedule. When would you actually have time to spend with your dog? They need lots of lovin and to be babied. A cat, however, is much more independant. I would rethink about getting an indoor dog or a dog, period. Think of what your schedule is like and envision taking care of a baby. Will it work to the best of your animals health? An outside may be better unless you live somewhere where if rigid hot or frigid cold...think about it.

I agree with the cat answers. I am a dog lover personally and they take so much time and need so much affection. I would wait until you have more time. I don't think that there is a dog that exists that likes to be home alone a lot. Sorry

You should get a breed or a mixed breed dog that best suits your lifestyle. This site can help you select a breed and show you the breeds that best suits your needs and wants in a dog. It will ask you a series of questions about what you are looking for in a dog.

Have Fun, and also, once you know the top five breeds that suit you, go to a shelter and save a dog that matches those breeds or a mix of those breeds.

Doesn't exist. A bored, alone small dog will bark.

a stuffed toy dog.
Almopst all dogs bark and they take a lot of training to get them not to bark mucha nd if you aren't home enough it won't get any training.

A basenji might work. They are a barkless breed of dog. They actually can't bark. They are small in size, and i think would fair well home alone.

I think rat terriers are the best inside dogs..very easy to train and don't shed much. And very loyal and good with kids.
