My friend says my 12 year old brother should start working out. I say he's too young. He says age doesn't matter.

My brother barely has any leg hair.. Should he really start working out? He's barely in puberty.

Doesn't working out take protien, calcium and testosterone?

he can start out by doing bodyweight exercises like push ups and pull ups. at 12 with pre-puberty test levels there isn't much natural strength due to the low levels of circulating androgens.

resistance training increases protein utilization, calcium absorption and increases test production along with increasing bone mineral density. the only negative aspect of resistance training is a slight increase in free radicals, but that's what anti-oxidants are for in fruits and veggies

My friend, you are much too young. Wait until your body produces testostrone first.

Yup and he will stunt his growth. Don't start pumping weights till your at least 18.

EDIT: Why does everyone rate this down?? Its true, it can do damage if he is not fully developed and bones stopped growing etc.. sheesh - or are you all sub 18 rating me ;p
