If you mean by disown that we don't recognise them as anything related to Judaism then here are the reason we reject Jesus and a few of the ways that Christian theology has divorced itself from Judaism:
Here is why we don't believe that Jesus was the messiah in simple terms:
1) The dead were not resurrected
2) The Jews did not beome priests to the other nations
3) There is no world peace
4) The temple is not standing
5) There is no temple service
6) There is no parah adumah or its ashes to render us tahor
7) The messiah is from the House of David. your house/tribe is inherited from your father. Your father is your BIOLOGICAL father- there is no adoption in Judaisim to another father- if God is the father of Jesus- then Jesus cannot be from the House of David as God is not frm the House of David.
8) Human sacrifice is completely forbidden in Judaism- remeber God stopping the sacrifice of Isaac? The idea of a human being sacrificed is the opposite of anything from Judaism!
9) You have to atone for yourself! An essential part of the atonement process is being repentant. Someone cannot be repentant for you- you have to do it for yourself. ONly communal sins can be forgiven communally- not individual, private sins!
And no- the messiah does NOT proclaim himself- he will be recognised by his deeds- not by his claims- in other words, through doing the above he will be recognised as the messiah. On top of that- mashiach is a HUMAN being, with HUMAN parents- the idea of an anthropomorphised God going around and impregnating young woman is completely alien to Judaism- though it fits very nicely into the pagan religions of the time which had their heroes being fathered by gods (ala Hercules and his daddy Zeus)
NOTE ON MESSIANIC JUDAISM/JEWS FOR JESUS
Both of these are deemed as nothing more than Christian sects using deceitful means to convert Jews. EVERY Jewish denomination denounces these sects as Christians and nothing more. However, by Jewish law, once a Jew, always Jew- whether born or converted. Thus once a person is Jewish they are always judged by Jewish standards, and if they revert/convert to a different religion they are still considered Jewish by Jewish law. BUT, someone practising a religion other than Judaism is considered outside of the community, may not be a member of the community, receive any community honours, be a representative for the community, be buried in a Jewish cemetary, marry a Jew or be treated as a Jew for the purposes of the laws of mourning. However, since they never stop being a Jew- they merely have to repent, return to Judaism and go to mikveh in order to once again be a full member of the community.
Christianity is totally divorced from Judaism theologically
1) The belief that God would physically manifest to produce a child is the opposite of Jewish belief
2) The belief that God is made up of different beings is the opposite of Jewish belief in the single, undivided nature of God.
3) The belief that any being could set itself up in opposition to God (i.e. the devil) is the opposite of Jewish belief in which God is the sole and only authority and author of events in the world
4) The idea of eternal damnation for people who err (Hell), is the opposite of Jewish belief in which God is loving and always forgives.
5) The idea that God would ever cancel his convenant, after explicitly stating it was eternal, and thus turning God into a liar, is the opposite of Jewish belief
6) The idea that God could ever make a mistake (i.e. that the law he gave was too difficult to follow and was thus replaced with the sacrifice of his "son") is the opposite of the Jewish belief that God is perfect and never makes mistakes.
7) The idea that God can make mistakes is also the opposite of the Jewish belief that God is eternal and across all of time (God is, God was, God will be) and thus knows rthe consequences of every action and can tus never makes mistakes or not know the result sof something he does.

I'd like to just echo what SUPERJEW said: you are not Jewish. I have seen some of your other posts, and I don't know why you felt the need to lie here about your religion.
Quite apart from that, your 'question' makes no sense and just reveals how little you understand about both Judaism and Christianity.
All the Jews who answered here have given both intelligent and polite responses. I, however, am somewhat less polite: I think you are a liar and a troublemaker.
Comment to SUPERJEW
I think your answer was brilliant :) Just one point: as a Reform Jew myself, I don't regard the movement as an 'aberration'. It's bad enough when I get insulted by non Jews, I don't expect my co religionists to also bash my religious choices!
HEY ECTERBOB - you go, girl! :)

Two points:
1.) Jews don't "disown" Christians. They simply don't accept the idea of God becoming mortal . . . that's an oxymoron. If a "god" can become mortal and die, he can't be a god. A god, by definition, is immortal.
2.) If you're a Muslim and you don't reject Christians, you've obviously never read the Koran, because it specifically states:
Surah (5: 51) – “O you who believe! Do not take the Jews and the Christians for friends; they are friends of each other; and whosoever among you takes them for a friend, then surely he is one of them; surely Allah does not guide the unjust people.”
Surah (2: 98) – “Allah is the enemy of the unbelievers.”
Surah (2: 191-193) – “Kill them [unbelievers] wherever you find them….Fight with them until there is no persecution, and religion should be only for Allah.”
Those are just three of about two hundred and fifty verses that command Muslims to hate and to kill Christians and Jews.

I will probably be in trouble for answering b/c I'm not Jewish. Anyway some Jews ( Messianic) believe Yeshua (Jesus) is their Saviour - there are many of them who believe this (who know ) this....
However some Jews think Jesus was a trouble maker or false prophet - some believe Jesus did not fulfil the requirements their long awaited Messiah was destined to fulfil.
I am a Messianic Christian - i am a lover and friend of Israel - i long for God to open the eyes of His people. In the Holy Bible Yeshua said in Matthew 23:37 "O Jerusalem Jerusalem the one who kills the prophets and stones those who are sent to her! how often i wanted to gather your children together, as a hen gathers her chicks under her wings, but you were not willing".
I hope this will help you understand a little of what's happening.
Shalom Habib
Can i add: There are MANY Jews on this site who believe Jesus (Yeshua) is their Messiah -- there are also MANY Jews on this site who don't believe Jesus (Yeshua) is their Messiah - you will come across them at some point.

Excuse me for answering a question directed to Jews, but as a Christian, may I say I don't feel "disowned" in the sense of being rejected? It's true Judaism and Christianity parted ways, but I've never experienced a current-day Jewish person rejecting me for being a Christian person. I've certainly never heard one of them say "death to the Christian infidels!"

When they made Jesus into a god, they could no longer call themselves Jews. However, they broke away from Judaism long before that because they couldn't find converts willing to be circumcized and they for sure didn't want to abide by all those laws!

There are many reasons...
First, there are no prophesies whatsoever in the Old Testament about any 2nd coming! Jesus was telling some of the Jews that he was coming back in their own lifetime (white lie?), but they all died and he NEVER came back.
Mat 16:28 I tell you the truth, some who are standing here will not taste death before they see the Son of Man coming in his kingdom."
But to some other Jews he told them that nobody, but nobody including himself knows when God will send him back to be their King! Caesar God was a God King. God the Son Jesus Christ was the alleged God, too King of the Jews. The day of the 2nd coming to be their King will come as a total surprise even to Jesus!
Mark 13:32 (Jesus said) No one knows about that day or hour, not even the angels in heaven, nor the Son, but only the Father.
The Eastern soothsayers came to visit the "Newborn King of the Jews"… The last question that the Jews asked Jesus was about his promised kingdom (Acts 1:6-7). Jesus told them to never mind!
The Jews were never delivered from the Romans, but they were almost exterminated. The Jews wised up and dropped Jesus very quickly. For Christians it may take a little longer. Each people have its own degree of gullibility.
No fault of the Jews. They really wanted to make Jesus their king by force, but Jesus chickened out! Very few Christians want the world to know this fact!
John 6:15 (NIV) Jesus, knowing that they intended to come and make him king by force, withdrew again to a mountain by himself.
The last time that he came to Jerusalem he made all the Jews to believe that he was going to become their King, but he was teasing them!
John 12:13They* (*big crowds of Jews) took palm branches and went out to meet him, shouting, "Hosanna!" "Blessed is he who comes in the name of the Lord!" "Blessed is the King of Israel!"
But Jesus had no intension to become anybody’s king! He also told Pontius Pilate that his kingdom was not of this world! So much for the "Newborn King of the Jews!" Pilate had to put a sign on top of the cross to remind everybody about the recanted "Jesus of Nazareth, King of the Jews".
Christians ALWAYS accuse the Jews for rejecting Jesus! Hardly any preacher ever mentions the fact that the Jews really wanted to make Jesus king by force. Throughout history a lot of Jews lost their life because of this accusation!
