There are two conditions that if the slide is held by another person that would prevent the gun from firing.
1. Already named by boker_magnum, is that if if the fleshy part of tissue between the thumb and fingers blocks the hammer from impacting the firing pin. The result will be a muffled clack, some blunt trauma to the hand, but no gunshot.
2. Would be holding the slide and moving it rearward and opening the action. This would cause an out of battery condition. Most handguns are designed not to fire when out of battery. You can be sure however, if grip is lost on the slide, the gun will return to battery and can be fired.

Yes the gun will fire. Once the trigger is pulled the energy from the hammer falling hits the firing pin and firing the cartridge in the chamber. Whomever is holding that pistol will get serious burns and shot. The only thing holding the slide will prevent will be a follow-up shot.

The gun will still fire. It may not load the next round but the first one will go bang unless the action has a barrel disconnect built into it like the 45 cal. Colt Auto does.

Actually, sometimes people will put their thumbs behind the slide to stop the cycle with a suppressed weapon. So yeah it will fire.
many pistols have a disconect so that if you push the barrel or slide back a little bit the gun won't fire.
Another way to stop a weapon from firing is to put your finger between the trigger and trigger guard. You better be fast on that one too

You are going the wrong way! If you can force the slide back and out of battery (not in the closed position), any well-designed pistol will not fire.
I would rather be running away than try that, and I run VERY slowly now.

Yes, it can still fire, and I think the force of the gas and the shock of being shot would prevent you from even holding the slide hard enough to keep it shut.

If you want to disable a pistol by grabbing it, you better be fast and you better be damn good. This technique only works on hammered pistols, quickly grab the pistol and put the web of your hand, between your thumb and 1st finger between the hammer and the firng pin, yes you might sacrifice a bit of flesh but it's better than being shot.

achievable? i'm useful somebody, someplace has figured this out. however the question is "why"? in case you are able to legally have a real gun, then bypass out and purchase one. in case you are able to not discover the money for a surprising one, bypass out and purchase a used one, or an older form, and so on. weapons may well be offered affordably in case you recognize the thank you to keep for them. Now, in case you are able to not own a gun the place you reside, or in case you're a felon and are not allowed to have one, or are too youthful to possess one era, then why could you danger own harm and achievable reformatory time over a gun? are not getting me incorrect, i'm truly professional gun, yet once you are able to not own a gun and are attempting to cheat your way around the device to get one, then you definately are inquiring for difficulty. That being suggested, assuming which you will own a real gun in case you had to, and are in basic terms curious to whether or not you are able to convert a sparkling firing gun to fireside real bullets, i think it certainly relies upon on the common and the potential of the gun itself. i'm useful you're able to someway convert it to fireside .22 high quality rounds, and so on, yet 9mm is a intense rigidity around, and might reason the slide again off, or the barrel to burst after a handfull of rounds. My suggestion, do not do it. in case you are able to legally purchase a gun, and have no unwell reason for possessing one (I.E, at the instant are not a offender) then with the help of all skill bypass and purchase one. in case you at the instant are not sufficiently previous, then wait some greater years. in case you're a felon, and might't own a gun yet nevertheless want one, Mr. Crack broker will possibly be waiting to furnish you a gun, as criminals do not obey regulations, so regulations could be irrelavent to you, yet i could nevertheless advise in comparison as you are able to run right into a legally armed individual who would not take too kindly on your movements, and for this reason you are able to earn a toe tag. in case you reside in a rustic it somewhat is oppressive and would not assist you possess weapons, then assemble some well matched friends, celebration politically and VOTE to alter the regulations so as which you will own firearms. attempting to change sparkling firing weapons to fireside real bullets is in basic terms inquiring for difficulty, for numerous motives. do not do it.
