Christmas is a time when workers and employers spend time together in gift giving, sharing of talents, laughter etc.
I remember a time, when after the party ( when the party was about to end ) the employees where told to go a big box made of cardboard. Inside the box where items wrapped in used newspapers and tape to seal each piece.
It was my first time to get a gift, wrapped in newspaper.
Whatever the others where thinking, it doesn't matter after all each one recieves a gift......
After that, I noticed that gifts given in the office is always wrapped in newspaper..
I'm just a little curious , which is more important in gift giving the content or the wrapper?
What exactly is the meaning of giving a gift in a nice and colorful wrapper rather than a gift which may not be appreciated by others or to some , they express their undending thanks for a grace they did not even expect to recieve?

Neither. It is the thought that counts, not the cost of the gift but if it is nicely wrapped then the reciever knows that the giver has spent time and thought in giving the gift. If the gift has been bought with meaning, then the wrapping has no meaning at all. An office present is unlikely to fall into that category.

The contents - The less you have to spend on wrapping, the more you can spend on the actual gift, thus giving something of more value than if you had to shell out an extra $5 for wrapping. It's silly. Bring on the newspaper!

While I am always thankful for any gift I receive (or at least I pretend I am), I will admit that it is soooo exciting to see a beautifully wrapped gift that was done especially for ME!!!

A friend of mine said it perfectly the other day. She was talking about singing and the gift of music. She said "you have the most amazing gift to give, why on earth would you wrap it up in ugly, used paper?"

--------
A relative of mine rarely has much money to spend but she shops carefully for a small item that will delight me, then she wraps it SOOOO beautifully!!! I am overwhelmed with thankfulness!

newspaper is okay for a company gift. a personal gift needs that extra pizzazz. but the newspaper is trying to show that the gift is better than the wrap. How would you like to get an onion chopper wrapped like a million bucks... lol

The thought behind giving the gift is the most important. Happy Holidays!

..havent you heard?..its the thought that counts..if you are preparing a gift..why not give a gift of yoursewlf..(to ur hubby or bf..).Wrap yourself in sexy lingerie and unwrap yourself piece by piece in front of him on christmas eve..he will not bother about the wrapper or the contents afterwards..lol

A nice wrapping shows that you took an extra few minutes to do something extra nice.

te content usually. most ppl like to take pride in a cool gift and make it look "pretty" there are so many decorations it can be cute but it is easily overdone too!

I have always regarded the wrapping as a nasty obstruction.
