Why should it be worse to believe things in the bible than believing things you see on TV??

The proof is written. "Seek and yee shall find." Look you have to reed it yourself to decide. I studied and became a christian because the proof leaps off the pages. A Dr., a pharmacist, fishermen and others who didn't know each other meet Jesus and gave up everything and followed him. They witnessed and wrote about the miracles, and the Resurrection. You could study every faith on the planet and after you finished you would understand why Jesus is the only way. Religion is all about what you believe is going to happen when you die. The way I see it if nothing happens then I am safe. But if what I believe is right, and it is, then those who did not believe will have all eternity to think about. Those who believe will spend eternity in Heaven. Here is a question for you. After Jesus ascended back to Heaven why didn't the apostles roll over and tell the Romans he was a profit or a magician? They didn't they were crucified upside down boiled in oil skinned alive you get the idea they refused to deny their lord and savior and that's because they were there to see the miracles and knew he is who he claimed to be. Please read and study for yourself I read a lot of peoples questions on here and when it comes to Religion it looks like most people judge by assuming things that they don't know because they haven't studied. We all have computers so we must be smart enough to do our own research. Please.

I would not call a religion a phenomenon... a phenomenon relates to an object/experience/etc that has just happened or has just exploded (exploded in the sense as it just came on the scene).
Christianity is a faith just like any other religion. It's the one of the only relgiions that have been most accurate to date about events int he world.
The bible works like a timeline, although it is set long ago it is foreseen events that can guide one through their life. It has to do with faith and walking by faith.
Also, Christians believe that the bible is the word of God spoken through many prophets.
I think the biggest attraction is how spiritually driven the scriptures are. It does not tell you what to do, rather it guides you. It can give you the outcome if you read closely enough and if you follow his word everlasting life is a huge attraction.

Here are MY beliefs.....
1. The bible was written by man --- not Jesus or God.
2. I consider the bible a history book -- there are toooo many contradictions in it (yet again, here is the cause of all religious beliefs)
3. The Qurran (sp?) is almost the same way - believe it or not. It's about how WE PERCEIVE things. SOME take everything to extremes....like "an eye for an eye" - most females would not have EYES....seriously.
4. I AM A CHRISTIAN because I believe in God and Jesus being his son......no proof -- this is where the "faith" comes in.
A Christian is someone who believes that Jesus is the son of God......guilty as charged!!
BUT YA KNOW, I'm very open minded and LOVE to learn about ALL relitgions.
CHRISTIANS ARE NOT PERFECT BUT WE ARE FORGIVEN.......I kind of like that, how about you????

UUMM FYI, the bible is not at it's purest, if you know what i mean. it's not god's words. People overtime changed the words into something better to suit THEIR living. But people don't know that. And don't try to disagree with me, cuz I know this as a fact, and i got back up. Like now your symbol is the cross, well back then it was 2 fish. The second was that How can you guys be monothiestic if you believe that Jesus is the Son of God. The second is that Did Adam and Even dress the way we dress now, what language did they speak, where did they live, and did they FAST? or celebrate Christmas, think about it. So to answer your question, it's probably because they think that it's the book to the guide of life

I believe the Bible because no other book has been preserved and put together from over 40 writers that have been inspired by God. Because it is God's Word to all people. Because the gospel is what saved my soul when I believed that the Lord Jesus Christ died for my sins. Psalms 12: 6 The words of the LORD are pure words: as silver tried in a furnace of earth, purified seven times. Psalms 12: 7 Thou shalt keep them, O LORD, thou shalt preserve them from this generation for ever.

wELL i BELIEVE BECAUSE i HAVE A PERSONAL +RELATIONSHIP WITH JESUS I have studied it quite a bit and listened to Christian t,v, and scientists and they have found so much to prove the Bible. They have found things in the middle east that relates to some of the stories in the Bible. Also, too many of my prayers have been answered not to believe. //When I have been very hurt or sick, or very scared , I've called for prayer and it feels like a thousand pounds has been lifted off me. I do pray myself but the Bible tells us that if ones prayers drive off i,000 then a partner in prayer drives off 10,000. Where two or more are gathered the Lord is with them. I just wish I could wave a wand and let you feel the presence of the Lord. Since I can't, all I can do is tell you about it. I pray that you teo can feel this. It is awsome. But, in order for the Lord to answer your prayer you must accept Him in your heart. YIou don't have to do anything to be ready. Just ask from your heart for Him to show you in some way that He is real. Ask Him to come in your heart and He will change what needs to be changed. I've know people that were delivered from drugs immediatelly and others tapered off more and quit. No one knows HOW the lord will do it. HE just does it.

Everything in creation fits together like a glove. Perfectly. My mind is baffled at how even God can think of all of this wonderful stuff. Archeology and secular writing backs up much of what the bible has to say. Most of all, I have seen the power of love, I have felt His presence and I have felt His discipline through those beautiful words. It baffles me why people DON'T believe. I'm sad for them.

---------------------
Note: For those who believe that we were simply taught that by our parents

I came to know and love the Lord truly and deeply as a free thinking adult. Many others will say the same. You'd be surprised I'm sure to hear that I also have a high IQ.

The Prophecies of Daniel are one of the most obvious points.
He was an advisor to King Nebechadnezzer of Babylon when he predicted western history through modern times. So accurately that people who don't believe the Bible tried to prove that he had to write it well after the scrolls dated.

Believe in what sense? I believe that the Bible is a collection of writings which over the course of their history reveal a legacy of deep spiritual insights, the quest to find God within human history. These writings were deemed exceptionally valuable to various Jewish and Christian communities at times, and so were preserved and eventually 'canonized'. They are one of humanity's great spiritual treasures.

Peace to you.
